Painting Calipers?

Beside IND, if you wanted to have your multi-piston brake calipers re-painted who would you recommend?

Powdercoated? I used this guy...

http://www.thepowdercoater.com/

Charged $350 to redo all 4 of my stoptechs. He was pretty quick about it but I was in no rush either. Zeckenhausen uses this guy.

I know IND does awesome work but I wasn't willing to spend the $$$ on a paint job that's going to look horrible in a year or so anyway.

Any local bodyshop can handle painting them for you. Powdercoating is tougher since any non-metallic parts need to be removed prior to coating since the baking of the powdercoat will melt the seals.

Can places like that redo the Stoptech logo too? I have thought about having mine changed to red, but it would look a lot better with a stoptech logo over the red.

It is a stoptech bbk came in the standard red. It was custom painted the blue and a sticker was added to the size of my liking. Had about 3-4 tracks days and they are holding up perfect.

VAC said they'll only re-paint new calipers They've had too much trouble re-painting used calipers...

Here are some pics from the guy I used. They are powdercoated. Honestly, I think paint will look better and more uniform than powdercoat. I would have preferred he not powdercoat the crossover tube but no big deal, minor thing. Considering that powdercoat was about 1/2 the price of paint, more durable, and will get messed up from track use...I went with powdercoat.

Thanks for the pics. I've been trading emails with Mike and it looks like I'm going to go with powdercoating. Not that it matters but I'd never pay the absurd amount IND wants to paint four calipers!

Also, wanted to let everyone know VAC will only re-paint and/or work on new calipers.

It might be a good time to replace seals, dust boots and/or anything else that needs it.

Also, if you need StopTech stickers, PM me and I can send you the sticker templates I got from StopTech (I've seen some stickers that are the wrong font). You'll still have to have vinyl cut, but at least it'll be accurate.

I'm happy with the work. As I've said, the coverage isn't 100% consistent but I think its a tradeoff with not having a 1" of powdercoat on the caliper.

If you do go with mike please tell him James with the blue ///M calipers referred you (I'm not sponsored or anything).

Thanks for the offer but the calipers are PFC, not ST. Yes, I plan on having seals and pistons replaced after the powdercoating process...
