PFC01 Pads Making Sparks?

I just installed a pair of stoptech st40 calipers and 355mm rotors on my E46 M3. And tonight I took it out to do a few 60-5 runs to bed the pads in.

Here's the thing, from the passenger side I saw sparks under heavy braking.

Please note that the rotors have about 500 miles on them using the stoptech pads. So is this normal?

Are the pads new? If so, that is totally normal. Alot of times there is sediment, or the edges are not chamfered which causes the sparks upon bed-in. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it.

I've done a bed-in before many times on track pads with non-chamfered edges and it's a spark show at 10pm at night

Is it making a loud grinding noise, or does it sound normal?

Chamfered:

Non-chamfered (which is what you may have)

Thanks for the info.

They aren't making any particular noise. Yes, the pads are brand new and I believe they aren't chamfered. So I suppose that's what's going on.

It seemed a little weird that they weren't sparking from both sides, but everything seems normal otherwise - no pulling or anything.
