Here's my question: The aluminum will absorq heat from the fluid, but it will also absorb ambient heat from the engine bay? If the engine bay is hotter than the fluid, it will draw heat to the fluid rather than drawing heat out.

The greater quantity of fluid would definitely help keep temps down but I wonder whether the material helps or hurts.

There's an overflow tube that gets routed down so the fluid drops on the ground instead of the engine in case of overflow. I've had it on my E90 M3 for >2 years with no problem. Works great on track

Fluid on the ground gets you a black flag and off the track over here.

Wow, spoken like a thermodynamicist!

I didn't mean that it was pouring out of that tube and getting all over the track. As said, you can always hook up the tube to a catch-can. I have it routed down. Never had to add fluid and only saw few drops on the ground after parking the car coming out of a session.

I would obviously be black-flagged if leaving any visible trace on track!

That's what I was going to say: Kaiv's catch can is compatible with the AGA aluminum reservoir so you'd get the best of both worlds. Venting to atmosphere would be okay so long as you're talking about a small amount of fluid.
