Seriously.... I saw it again today. Why do people do this?

Okay, so I get to work today and park out in a desserted area of the parking lot where some fellow BMW drivers have seemed to stake their claim to this area. So, there are very rarely any other cars in this section of the parking lot but some guy has parked his 1 series splitting the lanes... Why do people do this? In my opinion it does not protect your car and puts it at even more risk.... It just screams, "Look at me, I am a BMW driver and the stereotypes are true, I'm a PRICK!" Not to mention begging for someone to key it....

Sorry, not trying to troll here and I am all about parking at the back of a lot away from everyone but just keep it in a single space. It's safer that way.

Because they think they are cool, and begged to be called "JOE DICK". What a poser.

I try to park next to lined "no parking" areas on the end or even next to Handicap spots... They are rarely used in the city, so it is safer than in the burbs. I never split the lines... You are just asking for trouble, ESPECIALLY in the city, where parking is at a premium...

haha, yes! "hugging" the no parking lines is perfectly acceptable in my made up book of ethics on parking a car! I use this method as well....

It baffles me when I see a Turbo 911 shoe-horned in between 2 Escalade's in the garages downtown. Same goes for M3's, etc. I guess not all of us are that anal...

I know the founder of Threadless and he used to have a website called, iparklikeanidiot.com where you could buy these non-sticky stickers you can put on a window, take a picture of the prick and upload it to the site. I seem the site has closed but he is still selling the stickers. I always carry a few on my glovebox.

I can understand why one would do this in, say a Lambo, Ferrrari, 911 Turbo or the like, but a 1 series? What a d-bag. But in his defense the leasing company will prob hit him for every ding when his deal is up.

I parked in a deserted part of a large supermarket car park in an extra wide space while waiting for my wife to pick up a few items...while I'm waiting a women parks so close to my car she literally can't open her door wide enough to get out...WTF was wrong with the other 500 empty spaces she could have chosen? Looking like she was going to persevere in trying to get out I reversed out and took another space.

OMG, i love this, I'm buying a pack of 20

There was this STi that parked in this free public garage here in DC area, where parking was at a premium at all hours...i wish I had this, I would have stuck this on his front bumper, likely would have gone unoticed for days.

+1, it's one thing if it's a 100 space parking lot where your car is an island in the middle of vacant spaces. But in major metro areas, doing this in premium parking areas, you're just asking for it....

i see nothing wrong with doing this if its in a desserted area of parking lot with lots of unused spaces. i.e. like in this situation ... i would never do this in a place where parking spots are limited, but if there are so many spots, i see nothing wrong with this

I do this only if there no one around I park sideways cause I don't want people parking around me. But when it's packed I wouldn't think twice about doing it but of there nobody around why not.

you are just drawing attention to your car and setting it up as a target imo. If there is no one around, it shouldn't be an issue, park normal...

Plus, when someone sees that I think they are more likely to park next to you. I would if I was in my beater...

At work sometimes i park right in the middle of two spots. I know it seems like a jerky move but sometimes people park not only too close but when they open their car doors, they make sure that they hit your car hard with it. In my old car, i had so many marks on the doors, it would kill me to see that happen to my baby.

I try to park next to other nice cars assuming they wouldn't ding me up if they left before me.

I parked the M3 normally in a parking space by myself in a deserted parking lot far from the store entrance... I came back and some dipsh*t in a huge old truck parked less than a foot from the side of my car on the driver side in an otherwise deserted parking lot. I had to crawl into the car from the passenger side.

Moral is don't park by yourself even if you park properly, some ass will mess with you.

This one's my favorite. Watching peoples faces as they pass my car is priceless.

Maybe he was dodging all of the cakes, pies, cookies and other tasty desserts in the parking lot.
