Can someone please check this and advise?

I have 2009 E90 DCT that I just bought and the full warranty expires in 10 days. So I am checking the car thoroughly to make sure there is nothing that needs fixing before the warranty expires.

I noticed today that in neutral, if you slightly increase rpm to around 1450/1500, there is a vibration. It goes away if you go over or under 1500 rpm. It can be felt only at 1500 rpm.

The rpm is too low to notice it while driving so no issues there. I can repliacte it only is only when the car is stopped, in nuetral (no load) and I slowly rev it upto 1500 rpm. Please note there is no buzzing sound or anything like that associated with it. It is just a vibration that happens exactly as I get to 1450-1500 rpm.

Can someone please check this on their car? Just have to test it n your car when it is warmed up and in nuetra. Slowly raise the rpm to around 1450-1550 andd see if you get any vibration?

Might just be a normal thing with these cars but I want to be sure before the warranty expires.

Could be anything vibrating.. Post a sound clip or video..

Mike. Video will not help because there is nothing to hear. I have seen your other post on the tac welded plate. This is not that. Best way to describe it is a very mild shaking. Not sure if this is a resonant vibration of some kind?

I am just looking for someone to replicate what I have described in my original post and check if they get he same thing?

Perhaps you should take it to an indy shop and get a PPI performed. Anything that is wrong, take it to BMW to have it fixed.

1 more data point: My 09 has been doing this since day 1. I have been using this "feature" as a "soothing vibration generator" when the infant would start crying at traffic lights: Put in N and rev up to 1500-ish.

My "simplistic" explanation is that the V8 engine is balanced assuming the entire drive train is connected. This explains why there are no vibrations when any gear is engaged at that rpm.

Anyway, I hope this helps and that the info makes it past the troll mongering posts.

I have that around 2,000rpm. I think its the pulley/belts. Could be the engine mounts. In any case, I've only been in one car (which had Dinan everything in terms of suspension + tune and pulley) and it didn't vibrate. Smooth as butter.

I'm not too worried about this.
