I wouldn't buy it without looking at it. Go and check it out, or have someone do an inspection from out of state.

Well obviously, all the snow and loose gravel will take a toll on the car. |

I've been promised a quality used car in Detroit. Drove down. Massive disappointment. Time well wasted but at least I did not loose any cash. If the deal is worth your ti,e go check it out. Do not trust anyone to provide an honest opinion as it is just their opinion.

any cars would be in "mint" condition especially when you hear them from a sales rep. If you have to buy that one, at least see it in person first.

I've purchased my last 3 BMW's from out West without seeing them in person.
Having said that my sales person knows me fairly well and what I expect in a car. So far I haven't regreted it! Good luck!

Having lived in Quebec and seen the potholes, salt, slush, etc, I would strongly reiterate GWow's comments - you need to see the underbody, rims, etc, and see how it drives (now, before the roads turn to crap again).
Also, buying a CPO from a BMW dealership is no guarantee that the car hasn't had an unreported accident. So get a CARFAX as well (I know, there are issues with Carfax as well...)... Ask me how I know with my first M5 purchase from a dealer in Vancouver... I suggest you take the wife/gf (not both) for a weekend at Mt Tremblant and just stop in for a look-see...I am pretty certain the weekend won't be a waste, whether you end up buying the car or not... GL!

I've bought several cars which were located in different US states and each time I flew out to inspect the car. It is my money so I want to see what I am buying with it, wouldn't buy a used car sight unseen.

In either case if the car is certified or not get all of the reports before you decide to look at the car or not. Milage seams very high. Good luck. PS. I'll check for the handle of the Montreal member and let you know so you may contact him. There are several Montreal Members ... (let us know if you need help to contact them). I'm sure one of them will help you out to look at the car. I would send a PM to montreal red ... you find a post of his here No. 13 in this thread ----> Click here to fo to the thread

Hi first not all cars from Montreal are in bad condition. I have a 09 m3 that has 20,000kms and I haven’t hit one pot hole and the rims are like new. Yes if your carless and don’t pay attention you will destroy the car but most of the people with 50k + cars tend to take good care of their cars. Also I don’t drive it in the winter so maybe this car your interested in was only summer driven as well. I have a close friend with a 08 e92 and he has 110,000 kms and the car still drives strong and other then leather seat wear is in great condition, so don’t worry about higher kms. Not all m3's are garage queens and not all of us can afford or care to have a second car. If the service records are available and oil changes were at least within 10000kms intervals then I would go for it. I'm guessing the price is great given the season.
Is this car your interested in at bmw west island by any chance? I'm going to bring my girl friend's x3 in for an oil change I can take a look for you. Thanks Alex

To OP, what is so hard about driving 6hrs to see something which you will dump a lot of money into? Just make it a weekend holiday trip. Food and chicks in Montreal are way better then in TO anyways

talk to your local dealer about doing a dealer trade with them so that you can buy the CPO car through a local dealer.
also, carfax has very limited information on Canadian vehicles because CARPROOF has exclusivity on most of the major data sources. CARPROOF is the only report you need on a canadian car unless it was imported from the states. many dealers know this and will give you the lesser report. I had a used car dealer give me a clean carproof on a US car. I advised that if it is an American car that carproof was useless and then he told me it has one accident and an odometer issue on the carfax. this was last year. with regard to Quebec, everything is shady over there (relatively speaking). do not buy it sight unseen. if they know you are never coming back for service or to buy another car they will have little motivation to be truthful and honest with you.. especially an anglophone. |
