Best Test/Track Pipes?

MS, Turner, ACM, etc? Dyno #'s, build quality, other subject comments ....what separates these pipes?

I doubt very much. 2 feet of pipe with a curve and flange on one end is not rocket science. Buy the ones that are the cheapest. There was a package deal with a tune a while ago.

What pbonsalb said, any of the major manufacturers will make a good product, the main concern would be the quality of the welds and clamps. I'm sure they're all very similar in this regard so just get the cheapest ones. I just picked up a slightly used set of MS ones last week on the forum.

As I'm sure you know, after deleting the cats the car will throw a code for increased emissions. You can purchase something like the akra delete-r which will just remove the code, or you can go with a full ECU tune. Check out this link:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=767475

You can get the best of both worlds and probably gain >30 hp to the wheels

The tune is more important with Test test pipes. Proven 30 hp increase

I have Turner's...A) because my cousin (bike racer and m3 enthusiast) is sponsored by them, and B) because they were $350 on sale.

They all do the same thing and are all quality products (given the brands you listed).

Either way, you'll enjoy the increased power with the minimal cost.

Thanks all. Sounds like its a subjective call, primarily based on cost. Still having fun building my "wish list".

Turners are $100 cheaper than MS. Every Turner part I've put on my car has been quality thus far.

ACM has a combo w/ ESS tune in the vendors section I think.

Seen the ACM test pipes and they look great and the weld is perfect.

Any of the test pipes able to clamp the original cats back up for smog testing, and then swapping back to the test pipe?
Most seem to cut the stock pipe pretty close to the cat and I'm not sure there's enough tubing on the stock piece to clamp back on.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

That's pretty much it, there's not much metal to clamp back onto without welding.

We do have a number of stock X-pipes if you should need a loaner.

I just wanted to add this for completeness regarding the question above - Any of the test pipes able to clamp the original cats back up for smog testing, and then swapping back to the test pipe?

Aus, I have seen a few that were re-welded. If it is a good clean cut with a good welder I doubt anyone would be hard pressed to tell you had the xpipe cut.

I'm lucky found a used one for $150 awhile back and cut that one up while keeping the one that came on the car.

I love my Turners, but any of the manufactures are gonna be a good choice they all make quality products.

Highly recommend an ESS tune as well, you won't be disappointed.
