New Product Release: HRE R40 Motorsport Wheels 18"

By Now, all of you are well familiar with the lightweight 18" monoblock wheels that are being used by Fall-Line Motorsport in the Grand-Am Continental challenge cars. Based on the success of these wheels, HRE has released the R40 for the public.

here are some details shots. Please note that this wheel has had more material removed from than the older version.

"HRE unleashes a direct descendant of the wheel that won the 2010 Grand-Am GS Championship, now lighter, stronger and better ever and ready for competition.

HRE Performance Wheels has unveiled a NEW forged one-piece motorsport wheel for 2011, the R40 Monoblok™ for dedicated track and the highest performance street cars. This mesh-style, 6061-T6 aerospace grade aluminum wheel is a direct descendant of the custom-built model used by Fall-Line Motorsports to WIN the 2010 Grand-Am GS Championship in BMW M3 race cars, but now it’s available in a brand new mesh style for a wide range of applications and lighter than ever (17.5 lbs and up).

HRE R40 wheels are precision engineered to stringent German TÜV specifications in HRE’s TÜV-approved manufacturing facility for ultra light weight, high strength and unsurpassed quality. Available finishes include Satin Black, Satin Silver, Brushed with Clearcoat and more. The R40 is available in 18” diameter and widths ranging from 8.5” – 12” in Multi-lug and Center Lock versions. HRE engineers know the race can be won in the pits, so be sure to note the rattle-gun friendly open dish shape for fast wheel changes!

All HRE wheels are engineered to minimize unsprung mass and rotational inertia for optimal acceleration, handling and braking performance. Each wheel is built-to-order at HRE’s 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility for the ultimate performance solution and custom-tailored wheel buying experience."

Are they going to be priced similar to the Fall Line HREs?

Very nice. I hope pricing is not crazy because this would make for a good track wheel.

How does TUV certification compare to JWL?
Nice looking wheel but wondering how much it'll cost.

the face profile does not change with the width of the wheels.
they are offered in almost every width in half inch increments that start fro 8.5" to 12.0"

good point. Another point to make is that this wheel really has functionality in mind. the wheels are designed to accomodate some of the biggest brake kits on the market right now for BMW and Porsche. It also has a center that is a little larger for easy torquing of the lug nuts for those with studs and bolts as well.

it certainly will and pricing is actually quite good. It is a tad below the "Fall-Line" signature wheel.

I am not 100% sure on this topic. I know that much of the certification is revolved around the load handling characteristics of the wheel,s both static and dynamic/cyclical. i think that there was a thread on that ~~

G, I'd love too but i have not seen too many of these out yet.
However, unlike the Fall-Line wheels, HRE will do these in any color you can think up off or you can select from any of the existing standard finish from HRE.

- Brushed w/ clear
- Satin Black
- Silver
- Textured Black
- Gloss Black

Beautiful wheels, but couldn't pull the trigger, especially for use on the track.

Would love to see some mounted pictures!

Why not get the TE37-SL for track use? Not crazy expensive, super light, and from one of the BEST wheel makers in the world with plenty of track experience at a high level.

I like the TE37-SL, but the rear 10.5 with ET20 is gonna be tight IMO if you are lowered. I would rub with my 18x10 ET20 Advan RS wheels when I run a 285/35 tire. I used to be lowered about 1".

Would it be possible to do a centerlock conversion for the M3 or are wheel studs are only option?
