2 M3 questions.....

How different is wholesale price vs. invoice price? Being quoted a dollar amount "over wholesale".

How was your insurance effected by purchasing an M3 (before you started driving it ). I have a 535i with a clean record so I cant imagine a dramatic change....

there is an invoice price (supposedly dealer cost) and MSRP (retail).

MSRP is about 4500 over invoice on the m3. I would start with the MSRP and see how much you can get off that. most dealers want MSRP on the M3....at least in Cali.

I'm an insurance agent and my M3 is only $50 more every six months than my '07 Lexus GS350. The M3's aren't bad insurance wise.

They are two terms for the exact same thing.

If you go to edmunds.com, you will see there that they call it "invoice" while the document that the_stranger posted calls it "wholesale". But the prices are the same, namely $51,980 base price for the coupe.

Yes. In fact, that is the best deal I've ever heard on an M3 so near to the launch. Obviously you'll want to confirm that the price you are actually offered matches what is listed at edmunds.com. But even if it turns out to be higher, anything under MSRP can be considered a good deal at this point. Don't let them tack on any BS fees either though, to where you end up paying more than MSRP.

Its great that he managed to get that from dealership, but its no big secret either. Just go to edmunds.com and you can get invoice pricing for nearly any car on the market.

That is a good deal, if the price is in fact invoice + $850 take it.
