"Your vehicle is in production..."

Just heard from BMW NA's automated system that my vehicle is "in production" and will be ready on "May 11, 2010."

WOW.

I'm not going to be able to sleep for the next month.

I'm surprised that things are moving along at this pace, I placed my order maybe two weeks ago at most.

I'm thinking that I might get lucky in early-June!

It does, I'm assuming 2-3 weeks for shipment another week for prep maybe.

They should just put it on a FedEx MD-11 and get it over with!

I've noticed that people are getting their cars built from their order dates quite fast (from the leasing forum).

I'm just surprised that we ordered the car on 4/29 and it's going to be built and ready tomorrow 5/11.

I think the ship transit time from port to port (socal), is 25 days. My car was finished at the end of April, and I can only hope it made it on the ship that was scheduled to leave on the 8th, but I have no confirmation yet. The next ship coming to us doesn't leave until the 22nd (with a June 16 arrival).

its 21 days to port of H(oxnard district)

Ive noticed same thing, cars are getting built rather quickly..

Is this due to lower production?

LOL that is brutal bud.

Mine only took 2 weeks from port to port (6 days at bremerhaven), so hopefully its more like 3-4 and not 6. Ask Definitive he updated his status every chance he got (was VERY entertaining though).

I just got my car on the 4th, and I have been enjoying the shit out of it. I get looks everywhere. This machine is perfection.

I think you could be right in terms of lower production, especially for these cars.

How do we track the ships?

Kaykay, I hope you get your car soon!

My SA told me to order at the end of May or beginning of June to get it in Socal by the first week of August when my lease is up. So I go early and ordered today, thinking it would help.

My mistake. Can't trust them. Have to find out on my own here or something. Turns out I get a production number but was told it will most likely be here in mid to late August. Huh? I told them I was shooting for beginning of July so I can get the car early and set it up with new wheels, a shield, a few tiny mods.

Now it turns out I have to rent a car for a month since the last time they convinced me to get my lease from US Bank instead of BMWFS. I should have known back then not to be trusting and here I go again. Because of that, there's no way to extend my lease at all.

So I am probably cancelling my order in the morning. I told them to hold it when I was informed of the delay. I may end up taking over a lease for a while, then at least I'll have more time to prepare next time and go for an ED.

Too bad, I already got wheels for the car on order.

True, but ships don't leave every day and neither do trucks to/from the port, plus add in customs time/VDC and you are up to 6 weeks average.

Ordered from Alexander, SG E92 with everything you can get.

We're definitely on the same ship, let's hope they have a quick journey through the Panama Canal.

A dealer telling you August on a May build?
A dealer telling you to go through US Bank instead of BMW FS?

You're all over the place kid...

No idea what you're saying...

Sounds like BS to me...

May builds are over. They are telling me a last week June build and an August delivery. If I could get it another way, I would. They've been looking around and can't find anything to offer me.

And of course a dealer selling a US Bank lease if the payments are lower because BMWFS had higher lease factors at the time. Why wouldn't they sell it if they can make a sale with a lower payment. I just wasn't paying attention to this at the time. Too bad for me.

And BS is for farmers, sir.

By "port to port" I was talking about the ship's travel time. A ship to Socal leaves once every two weeks.

You are right, I placed an order today and they said all the May builds are pushed back to June/July I am looking at late July myself for delivery.
