Sasha's 350Z is cray lol Michael Gardner's 350Z is doing well too. TSM has gotten a 370Z to 368WHP naturally aspirated this year, can't wait to see it on the track. These VQ engines are pretty impressive with the proper tuning.

What's the point of comparing two street cars with a race car?

To show how awesome the race car is. I'm very tempted to get one of those Z cars and make it into a track car.

Cause that "race car" is still cheaper than a brand new M4 or Cayman R. You can pick up a used 350Z for under $20K. Highly doubt the amount of mods on that 350Z exceeds $60K.

you can ALWAYS buy cheaper cars to make them faster than cars that cost 4 times that cost. ITS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. yet people still buy Lamborghinis over modded GTRs

oh since i can buy a 15k 350, dump 30k into it. smoke every M car being made today. no one should buy a M car.
Ya a built 350z with 30k in mods well make a nice daily driver.

Um, no. What cars like this show is that it's ridiculous to buy an overpriced M3 or Cayman to make into a track car when there are options that are both cheaper and better. No one said anything about a daily driver here

Obviously Lambo over GTR. But we aren't comparing them or a 1000hp civic/miata against a M3. IMO the 350/370Z is one of the best looking cars for under $100K so if their performance can exceed an M3 or Cayman R, I would go for the 370Z for a lesser price. Looks is subjective so everyone can have a different opinion. The point of the thread is to see everyone's opinion on M3/M4 vs Cayman R vs a built 350Z.

And no one said anything about track-only cars either.

He did give his opinion; he said (or at least implied) that he'd rather have the other two than the Z as a daily driver.

I came close to buying a 370z many times over the years. I have always liked the car. After my friend buying a fully loaded 370z and getting a good amount of seat time in the car. I can tell you I still would rather take a M or amg car. Although if I had a smaller budget a Z would make a great pick.

I think the problem your forgetting is that there are people with more money than other people. They want a m3 for a track car, period. I agree though if I was going for a track car I wouldn't go m3.

370z is a better track car than the E92 M3 IMO

Someone daily drives a Cayman R? That's almost as bad a DD car as that fully built 350z is.

Other than a 1M or M3, which M car or AMG car would you rather have? The M5 and M6 are mediocre driver's cars that are more at home cruising on a highway than on a canyon road or track. As for AMG, other than the SLS what good cars do they make? I never really understood the AMG philosophy. Yeah, lets go ahead and make an awesome handmade engine that makes gobs of power, then put it in an underengineered chassis and give it skinny tires so our customers can fishtail all over the place and never use the engine's potential.

I agree. The E92's problem is that it's quite big and heavy. Not to mention how expensive repairs and mods are! An E46 or even E36 would be a better platform for a track car than an E92.

I would rather have a c63 AMG, M3, M5, M6, RS5, CTS-V, etc... for someone who daily drives there car, and hits the track a few times over the summer.

If i was going for a track car, a car that is going to see a lot of track time. I would probably then get a 370z and mod it. Or even better get a c6 z07.

Apples to oranges. You're comparing a proper sports car with a bunch of grand tourers. While all those cars are more practical and luxurious, none of them except the M3 come anywhere near the driving experience and involvement of a 370z. And other than the M3, all the aforementioned would be terrible on the track.

Agreed on the C6 Z06 though. That car is pure adrenaline rush on wheels! I wouldn't mind owning one at all!

Awww, I miss my HR 350z. Wasn't anything special, but not bad for the 7 years I had it.
