Has any M3 owner here moved to a X5M or X6M?

I have the M3, but just bought a X6 35d to tow the E36 with. I've always loved the X6, and am glad I have it. Its only two of us (most times 1) so the 4 seat option isn't a big deal. I love it, and if possible, would have got the M version, but the diesel will do, as I'll be driving to Sydney and Brisbane a fair bit (1000-2000 km's each way).

I think if you want it, go for it, who cares what others think.

Sorry I disagree, I like modified cars and love that Cayenne. I guess I prefer modded cars over stock ones. I agree the body kit on the Cayenne is a bit over the top but at $200k MSRP its too expensive, even the sales guy agreed it was $$$$.

The X6M in stock form is ok but with the right body kit from say Hamann, I think it looks very aggresive like a hunkered down turtle ready to take off

I don't think its weird. I'm kinda in the opposite boat. I have a 4.8i X5 that I love for the space. I want something faster though and for a bit was torn between the X5M and an M3. I need a truck bed and I miss that from my last vehicle. I've decided on an E90 and a truck. If I didn't need a truck for the bed though I probably would have ended up with the X5M. Some people want a utility vehicle that is still fun to drive and insanely fast.

I drove the X6M a while back and was mighty impressed with everything except the price tag. I loved the fact the newer ones can seat 5 instead of the stupid 4-seater arrangement!

What would you guys do?

I looked at the X6 and didn't like it as a family SUV. It's more of a crossover IMHO and butt ugly. The X5M is the best of all worlds for you coming from a M3 and your growing family. X5M is faster than the M3, more HP. But the mess will only get worst in a bigger vehicle.

thanks for all the comments, I not in a rush to make a decision. Just wanted to hear m3 owners thoughts for now. Sadly there is no new cars I really want (at least now the ones I can realistically afford) My current stable covers all of life's necessities however our SUV's are boring and my wife's hybrid is too practical.

I had the same problem and ended up buying both the M3 and x5M. I considered the Cayenne GTS along with the ML63 AMG. The x5M was the most car for the money and much, much faster than the Cayenne GTS. I think the x5M is the ultimate bang for the buck in the high HP SUV club. It rivals the Cayenne Turbo S for about 50k less.

+1. X5M is no joke. Crazy amounts of bang for the buck.
