But I am also gonna get a brand new short block and install it. I understand the 2009 engines are much better in terms of main bearings and linings.

I think the 08 M3 engines dont seem to be as well made as the 2009 ones. The 2008 ones have Main Bearing issues as well which SnowsM3 and Knifegun's car had. Of course not all, but its still a cause of concern.
hmm...interesting....

You "think?" It's irresponsible to make a statement like the above without supporting data. Two data points does not make a case, and one could likely find similar random data points on "09" S65s.

As for the OP . . . oh nevermind.

You've really got to stop confusing the two. Per your post elsewhere, they initially voided your warranty due to ECU mods. I'm not agreeing that this caused your problem, but mischaracterizing their reasons here is just not right.

I've NEVER heard of any S65 failure except yours, BUT you messed at least with the ECU (per another of your posts). Besides, I'm not certain, but to change anything on the engine requires recertification. And somebody would know by now.

Unless you have solid proof, post away, but rumors like this because you're disgruntled due to BMW not covering your engine under warranty are totally unacceptable man .

Apologies to the confusion. Yes my warranty was voided due to that basically reduced the sensitivity of my o2 sensors and adjusted for some power on the upper revs. Thats abt it. I accept full responsibility of that and am already preparing to rebuild the engine at my cost.

Cheers!

I am a bit confused???

You said that you made an insurance claim for a new engine??? Then your old engine would actually be your insurance carriers property now for them to attempt to salvage and recoup some of their $$$ expenditure.... BUT, if it was an insurance claim my bet would be that the insurance company would choose to just repair your old engine and not buy you a new engine seeing that repair would be less costly then a new purchase. After all, insurance companies are for profit corporations who like to make $$$ by minimizing expenditures (claims)

Hence my confusion???

I received an email today from HSBC "UK" asking me to provide minimal info and in return they'll deposit $10.5 million into my account. Once I receive the funds I'd like to work with you on coming up with an agreed to shipped price of your blown-yet-fixable-insurance-owned S65 V8
