C'mon guys, these cars are built to be driven (hard) and enjoyed. I know you all will consider this blasphemy, but it is JUST a car . You can always buy another one.

I agree that's it's just a car, and good on them for taking a frozen gray out to take a beating. I'd like to see what happens to the paint when someone tortures the car.
It probably would have been better PR to get a standard AW M3 for the penny pinchers out there who wouldn't let the frozen gray see a spec of sand, dirt or rain. But if we lived life like that, we wouldn't be living much would we? |

Guys, an M3 is a production car, not a Van Gogh. They bought it, they should do whatever they want with it.
The M3 is meant to be on the track. Not tracking it is a waste of an M3.

clear bra would be counterproductive.. And who gives a rat's a$$ if theyre tracking a Frozen Gray? M3s are built to be raced. Just because a majority of people dont race them shouldnt mean that when a nice one hits the track we should all yell blasphemy.

it's their car -- they can set it on fire or paint it pink for all I care
Turner Motorsports know what they are doing though -- I'm sure it will be a beast by the end of the transformation

May the force be with you on the track buddy. That is very true, paint can always be fixed down the road, whoever said that is very correct. the drive was made to drive and you should do nothing less.

To everyone saying that its an M3 and it belongs the track, I'd have to disagree with you. This car is a limited edition car, produced to celebrate the M3's 25th anniversary!!!! It's 1 of only 30 currently in the US right now. This car has tremendous value as a collector car, NOT as a track car. If you want to track a M3, order a base one and use that. The paint on this car is going to be destroyed. BMW makes you sign a "Paint Maintenance" waiver/contract before you can take delivery of the car stating that you won't use waxes or certain soaps as they will damage the paint. Bugs and bird crap have to be cleaned off immediately. All the chips, bugs, and dirt this car is going to see from being used on the track will chew-up the paint on the front-end. And then have fun finding a competent bodyshop that can re-spray OEM matte paint.... |

good job.. i hope you full blown track it and show BMW that there is nothing special about that M3..
here is the story with the "frozen Grey" project. BMW CEO was short on cash to go on a vacation.. BMW CEO said. Lets paint 30 cars Matte color and put a 20 dollar sticker saying its #/30 BMW sold all 30 in 15 minutes and now he is probebly in Aruba sipping "frozen" martinis thinking what a bunch of DOOOOOSHbags.. :P Ash |

You guys need to loosen up a bit, it's clearcoat.. this car would be a shame not to see on the track.
I say track it, chip up the front end till it falls off. It will be glorious destruction. Better than seeing any other weekend driver catch fire as a car that's sparingly used to pick up groceries...like this guy. In case you guys haven't read the press release, you keep saying it's special paint. It's not. It's space gray, with a super duper rare unicorn blood infused clearcoat. 1-30. Get em while their hot...http://www.autoblog.com/2010/06/17/b...e-for-the-u-s/ Last edited by aids333; 09-14-2010 at 10:17 PM.. Reason: Extra info |
