Even a donut is better than nothing if you're in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night when a dealer is closed... You can hopefully get to a somewhat safe area wait there for a flatbed.

That said, I have a full size front ZCP wheel for my e46, but carry it only on longer trips through remote areas.

I need to read up on e9x spare wheel options, now.

Exactly. It was a joke, though. I never had a flat that I'd have to change on the side of the road in 12 years of driving, but I was stranded a number of times for other reasons that spare would not fix, so tires is just one of the factors, and probably not the riskiest one.

I'd through one of winter tires in the trunk if I was planning a drive to a remote area in summer. In winter I would not drive to the wilderness in one car anyway - too risky.
