I see many responses that say when oil is hot enough. Just curious...what do most members consider high enough? Not until 210? When it hits the first dot? Or maybe somewhere in between.

My daily drive doesn't allow me to really get it on. I take my own joyrides probably 2 times a month. That's why I'm always itching to get back on the track.

Interested in this as well. I don't drive all out after I hit the dot (150 degrees?), but I do drive it to about 4k - 5k or so.

I was inspired by this thread and yesterday even though still on winters I decided to go carve up some country roads and lay some rubber down

I rinsed her properly, let's just say she can breathe better now. Man that engine is something else. The harder you drive this car the better it gets. This is my first RWD car and it felt like heaven lighting up the rear tires. So addictive. Three hours of pure bliss in the country yesterday.

It was raining though, I didn't think much of it and today when I took her out, she looked like this...so filthy. Tomorrow will be her first hand wash day by me so we'll get her looking fresh and clean like before.

I drive it hard every weekend, mountain roads or track.

on weekdays I drive like a granny, doing exactly the speed limit, highest gear whenever possible etc.

I am very meticulous about maintenance, no problems so far.

I find that I don't drive it as hard since the SC kit has gone in. Just a blip of the throttle has me at less that reasonable speeds so quick I don't get to row thru the gears to redline as much as I used to.

That being said, once I do beat on it for a while it feels like it needed it.

Wait!? Are we talking about going to the GF's house again? j/k

As to the main question, I mash my M3 about twice a week (usually coming back from an evening class where the roads are particularly fun)...but you fine people have inspired me to get on with it and find more reasons REALLY drive it.

I only ever feel like I'm driving the car hard at the track. Having your foot to the floor at 6-8k rpms for 25-30 minutes straight is much different than a typical x-60 or x-100 pull on the street.

This replicates my experience.
