Didn't AT&T blame the iphone for bogging down their network? So instead of upgrading their network and try to improve the situation, they're going to team up with Apple again with another bandwidth hogging device???

Once my contract is over, I'm done with AT&T.

At that price, the thing is a joke. No multitasking, no Flash, no camera. That hardware with a slightly modified OSX 10.6 would have been a hit.

I'll stick with my Vaio X.

You know what'd be kind of cool- if they had the keyboard, like, sorta hinged up to just fold down when you needed it.

Nobody touch-types on a phone; even with a physical keyboard. This machine is different. the keys are big enough where hunt-n-peck will be really slow.

(P.S.: just so you know, I'm not an Apple hater. I'm typing this on my unibody MacBook Pro, which I bought the week it came out)

Wouldn't it be easier just getting a netbook instead?

My iphone battery life last 6 hrs of usage according to General Info in settings. I do mostly web surfing on Wifi/3G and text/AIM. Never had the battery showing longer than 8 hr on usage..

some of here really dont know the concept...
this is mainly for entertainment like photo/movie ebook and most of all browsing the internet.

if they put features like the one on the macbook it will bypass the macs.. the sales will dramatically be changed.

and the cost is not that expensive.

imagine the sony PRS-900BC for $300??? black and white and there is nothing really on it.

go figure..

This. I was hoping to avoid windows, but since Apple's answer sucks...oh well.

You can't seriously expect it to be an internet browsing device when it doesn't support Flash.

It isn't harming the iPhone right now( well.... it is harming AT&T because of all the data demand from iPhone users which in fact is harming the iPhone with dropped calls and slow speeds due to that high demand. Can't imagine what the iPad 3G would add to that.....).

You're right with the iPhone, but this is a very different device with a very different purpose. To herald it as "the greatest internet browsing experience ever" with zero Flash support is a joke.

Maybe with HTML5 we will be less reliant on Flash. But until that transition happens, Flash is an integral part of browsing.

+1. I really don't see the point of the iPad/iFail. Without multi-tasking I'm just totally lost. I don't know what I'd do with it. Seriously. I was counting on getting one of these so I could watch the markets on the go and have access to (real) charts and technical indicators.

IMO, iPad=major fail

You still did not give me a real valid answer. What does you owning an iPhone have to do with you purchasing this device? So you want to basicly have a giant iPhone without the phone?

Actually, it could be a giant phone as well.

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/01/27/...alls-possible/

For me, I stated my reasons why I would buy it if I didn't have my 17" MBP already. For my planned uses for it, it would be perfect. 27" iMac Core i7+$499 iPad would have been $1000 less then my 17" MBP.

But why pay extra every month for a giant iphone -with- the phone?
