Do we know pricing/fitment on BBS FI yet?
When will these wheels be available in the US?
http://www.bbs.com/en/company/news/fi_en.html http://jonsibal.com/blog/2009/05/bbs-fi/ Forum won't let you search for a the term "FI", so I apologize if this is a repeat. |

My contacts at BBS tell me the Forged Individual wheels can be special ordered through BBS USA right now. The wait time and price might give you a heart attack though...

The 19" BBS Forged Individual wheels in the E9x fitment will cost you approx. $8k per set, but it all depends on the Euro-to-US dollar conversion rate when you place the order.
The wheels are shipped from the BBS warehouse in Germany if they are in stock. If they're on backorder, then you have to wait until another batch of FI wheels are made. These wheels will be available in Silver, and another finish that looks like the CX-R wheel. (machined face spokes /w/ black inner barrel) at the 'normal' price, but the Ceramic Polished wheels will require an additional per wheel premium. I can't remember the price of this special finish off the top of my head right now, but it was at at least an extra $100 per wheel. BBS USA is trying to convince BBS Germany to lower the price of these wheels, in order to attract more upscale wheel buyers. At the current price, that will be extremely difficult if not impossible. I know the 8k price is insane, but I would rather have these FI wheels, than say the HRE carbon fiber series wheels which cost 10k. BTW: The weight would also be lower with the BBS FI wheels. (16.3front, 17.8 rear)

Are they made in Japan like their other wheel?
That's some serious coin, but they are SUPER light.

The new Forged Individual wheels are built in GERMANY, not Japan. Originally, the wheels were going to be manufactured there, but that idea was scrapped. Before this new wheel appeared, all BBS forged wheels were manufactured at their plant in Japan. The reason this wheel is not made in Japan, is that the BBS street wheel division didn't design or build this wheel. This new Forged Individual wheel was designed and manufactured by the BBS MOTORSPORT division. (racing wheels) This is currently the only forged BBS street wheel manufactured in Germany. From what I am told, there are more forged wheel designs coming out in the next few years. BBS intends to cultivate this Forged Individual line into an exclusive high-end wheel brand. The hope is that this line of wheels will showcase all of the innovative wheel technologies they have developed over the past 40 years of forged wheel manufacturing.

Great info. Is this a new facility in Germany or do they make all their forged racing wheels in Germany? It seems strange they would suddenly shift production of a few wheels to a different facility.

8k? Gasp. 4k and I will take an extra job on the side. At that price I would be afraid to drive anywhere for fear of being carjacked, like the kids that were shot for their Nike MJs...
