Before/After Pics - Dinan Springs E90

Hi Guys -

I installed my Dinan springs yesterday. As everyone has already posted the drop is minimal, but visible, and the handling feels sharper on the road. Folks have been requesting a side shot before/after so here you go. I also have 12mm spacers front and rear BTW.

I didn't want to be riding around on my bumpstops in a 65K car. Sorry! Function over form wins out in this case.

I don't see any difference in front. Just can't imagine $800 for springs when you could get them for $300. Even if the drop is more aggressive.

If there is anyone in your area, take a ride in a car with eibach or H&R springs and feel if there is a difference in comfort...when Dinan came out that all these springs are riding on bump stops, if .8 is on bump stops then RDSports with there springs(1.2") means there is no travel at all.

If you dont' have EDC on your car, I would of suggest going with KW V3 Coilovers as that would be the best route to go as for springs for 900 is a complete rip off when you can get a complete coilover setup for a little more and it has the rebound adjustment as well.

To be honest, Dinan himself is very smart in terms of marketing. The whole bump stop story (whether it be true or not) has certainly clicked in many owner's minds. Including mine. I had a long fight with Lucid about suspension travel, and now I am buying a set of Dinan tomorrow.

I had H&R sport on my car before and I will be sure to report back after the Dinan springs get installed this wkend.

I think a more fair comparison would be the eibach and dinan than H&R just bc H&R springs are stiff and linear whereas the eibach is progressive in the front to adsorb some of the bumps in the road. I researched alot of feedback as well and in terms of the money, springs that are 900 just isn't worth it at all as coilovers are just up the alley way. Some people stick with Dinan bc they match the warranty but I seen cases where people put Dinan in there car and the warranty is voided by Dinan won't support the warranty either due to taking the car to the track. You can take a completely stock car and the warranty from the bmw is still there. Dinan has great marketing tactics in my book.

Dude take one at the same angle and it will be a more noticeable drop.

You asked for the "i can't see the difference" posts with how you displayed the car.

Angle is different in the photos - there is shadow in the after picture which gives the impression they are almost identical.

I have Eibach Pros which I think are perfect, not as small a drop as Dinan and not as much as H&R. No bump stop or rubbing issues either with 15F/12R spacers as well.

I'm not on the bump stops. No rubbing issues with 10mm spacers all around. Car definitely has enough suspension travel as I've driven it over all sorts of road surfaces without a single issue

I really don't want to start a war here but how do you know you are not on your bumpstops? Believe me ... I agonized over this decision and would rather have not spent $900 on just springs but I didn't want to compromise the quality of the stock suspension. I wish the Dinan springs were a bit lower in front as well but after seeing how these were engineered it just made me very concerned about the standard approach the other mainstream solutions have.

I really hope you folks that bought $300 springs DO get good wear from your shocks, etc. and at the end of the day you have a good drop at a low cost but I couldn't bring myself to roll the dice on this one. I am starting to see people that had H&R, etc. replace them with Dinan so I believe it is very possible you do get what you pay for in this situation.

I'm def seeing fewer and fewer H&R spring threads.
Eibach, Dinan, Coilovers or Nothing

Still trying to decide...

I've decided with Eibach. Money isn't the issue so the Dinan $800 isn't a problem nor a factor at all but I didn't do Dinan because it's hardly noticable and I want a little bit more of a drop. I can't stand the "drop it like it's hot" look like H&R's but half way are the Eibach which offered not only a good drop but also great quality. That's IMO though. To each their own...

I've yet to feel my suspension bottom out over any bumps, leaving me to believe there is plenty of travel left in it after the swap. The drop is only fractions of an inch more than the Dinan so the shocks aren't going to wear any faster than yours will.
