Go for the V.
Get a black one and paint all the chrome trim. It will look mean as hell. Multiple reviews have it taking down the M5, so it is definitely one hell of a car. |

Not to be a pessimist but................... $13k below sticker and they are going to pay $1500 over the original MSRP for a 6 month old car???? Something stinks bro.
As far as the deal it is very solid trust me. When I bought my M i paid $15k uner sticker when they had the $7500 truck money and the V has a similar program now as well. There are also some pretty cool GM employeees giving out GMS numbers to get supplier pricing. Good deals are alsways out there you just have to know where to look. I would essentially be getting a brand new V for only $5k more on a car that stickered for $67k. It is very hard to pass up is all I am saying. Both cars are awesome and appreciate all the feedback. I am until Monday to pull the trigger so I am going to think about it over the weekend. THanks again for all the responses |

Good for what is better for you bro and what ever makes you happy at the end of the day, the M is sweet and one hell of a ride the V is a beast and loaded with angry power and Im sure will last you through the needs that you require it....Im going to be test driving both when I get back home myself....

Performance-wise, it is an amazing car and the fit/finish seems to be above average. However, I am still stuck on the looks; not for me.
Instead of giving you a SCCA membership when you buy the car, they are now giving AARP memberships. -SZ |

Thats pretty good I needed a good laugh. I forgot that they are also throwing in a lifetime supply of Metamucil and Depends. I actually like the lool of the V better than the 4 door M. As far as compared to my coupe I still love the look of the M coupe over most. Thanks again the comments are appreciated

that's not too bad. i sat in the cts v in the car show last year and it is a good looking car. if you prefer the added power and the look of this car, plus the extra saving. i don't see any problem why you shouldn't get it.
but personally i would get the m3. I'm maybe a bit bias though. |

My VP drives a regular CTS, he was in a head on collision with a deer the other day and the Caddy survived really well....he had no injuries. The deer however, disintegrated. -SZ Last edited by SUB-ZERO; 10-16-2009 at 10:51 AM.. |

Ultimately, I think you're coming down to this is just an easy deal to get your wife into the car.
I think it's going to come back and haunt you... the driving involvement is so 'lacking' when compared to ANY M car... the steering is SOO numb... the car is SOO big... it's just apples and oranges IMO. Thus the reason the car is now compared to the M5... Get an '08 M5... with SMG... and at least you still have 'some' involvement. Maybe you're old enough for the caddy... that it's ok... I don't know? Dave

If you want a to boost your ego, the CTS-V will take out anything on the highway with an M & AMG badge aside from a SLR or SL65 Black Series and offers surprisingly good handling according to reviews. Also tuners are able to bring the engine up to ZR1 specs with a simple pulley and tune. Hennessy for example offers tuning packages up to 700hp with simply bolt-ons. However its your choice, the CTS-V is to big of a car for myself.

Gator... again... the truth is... the 2009 CTSV is being compared to BMW's flagship from 2006... and barely beats it... with 50 More HP... and 100 More TQ...
The M5 is the better car to drive daily... and definitely more involving... And while trans failures can happen... who would ever own an M Car out of warranty? I wouldn't. Dave

Yes... 6 seconds ahead of the M3 on a 7 Mile Road Course... come on now... Making 150 More HP... if you can't do that math... I can't help you.
The CTS V does not 'HANDLE' anything like the M3... Like I said... it's more equivalent to an M5... and i've owned the M5... and driven the Caddy... the TQ is great... the interior was weak... and I'm not 55!

Yes, it should... and is... but when you look at a used '08 M5... the window get's much closer between the two.
And can you really use 'price' in anything when trying to justify BMW, Mercedes, or Porsche? I mean.. hopefully no one is new here to Pontiac's Nissan's, Chevrolet's & Fords... They've also been comparable for less. I guess it's how much less you're ok with. I actually LOVE the CTSV for what it does... I mean 550HP... 4 doors, lots of room... and $60K... I just hope this guy is ready for feeling that old... (IMO) it's no different than why not buying an AMG Mercedes... they're for old guys... (and wives) :P It doesn't mean they aren't great cars... you just have to be old---er. Automatics... Cushy suspensions, and more focused to the Hwy Cruise than the corner carving. All are great vehicles, please don't confuse my statements there.

Gator... how/why is an '08 M5 out of warranty?
I appreciate the line by line edits... so which Chevrolet product do you drive? Yes, you can get the CTSV w/ a manual... had you copied all my post.. it was in reference to both... AMG's & Cadillacs (All AMG's are Auto's... and most cadillacs are)... his wife needs an auto... I understand... but a true slushbox? Vs. SMG? Really? Why do you think the Caddy is $13K off sticker? Why do you think he is getting money back on his M3? In 3 years... the Caddy will have lost more than an E90 DCT car... there will be is 'artificial' savings... that he is so proud of. And in those 3 years... everytime he shows up somewhere... people will say 'Cadillac, Really?... I bet it rides nice!' And he'll have to tell them all about the specs... When he pulls up in a M car... they all no, and respect the brand, and what it's capable of. And they won't think he's 'old'. :P Again... the OP may be 50... if so... you've got the perfect ride... and spend some money getting rid of the shiny plastic, and chrome trim on the interior. Op for the Recaro Seats... and enjoy a nice ride, that your wife can drive too. Dave

TO be honest I paid almost $16k off MSRP when I bought the M and the only reason I am getting more for the trade is I know how to find a good deal. It has nothing to do with the depreciation. I would be surprised if anyone that bought an early M has not lost at least $10 to $15k in depreciation. I do love the M so I will never bash it for its an awesome car. As far aas me being old I'm 40 and I have never driven a car because of what people think about it. Thanks again for all the comments and as far as the wagon thats a little ridiculous even for this discussion. |
