6MT RPM drops too quickly during upshift

I want to say that I'm not challenged when it comes to driving a manual...from 5MT corollas to track-built Evos with race clutches, I don't think I'm a slouch when it comes to shifting and rev matching. With the 6MT E92 M3 though, I find the revs are dropping way too quickly for normal, daily driving. From 1st to 3rd I can rev match pretty easily, but from 4th, to 5th and 6th, I basically have to row like I'm on a race track to keep the RPMs from falling too fast. There is literally no rev hang...which is great for the track, but not for the street. I have to blip the throttle to get a chance at rev matching while daily driving on an upshift. Is that normal for the 6MTs?

I don't have to throttle blip like for a downshift, but you basically barely take you foot off the gas when upshifting. Back on the gas immediately.

Definitely requires quicker feet and more concentration than every other manual I've ever driven. But once you get the hang of how fast you need to be back on the gas, it's not bad.

That said, something like a gti feels like it's impossible to miss a shift compared to the m3

Try practicing being on the gas immediately and sooner than you think you should. This should help. It's even worse with the Ac on haha

You should of bought a 3 series with a nice heavy flywheel!

I recently set my default to be in power mode. It has made my car much smoother as it gets more throttle with less pedal pressure when you get back on the throttle after shifting.

Thanks for all the input.

After driving it around for a week, I've got a better feel for it. The Sport setting does make it respond much faster, but I don't plan to keep it on all the time. A combination of the F10 M5 shift knob and faster shifting should do the trick for me.

Look up the clutch spring removal and clutch pedal stop spacer. Those two mods greatly improved the shifting smoothness for me.

I researched that before I even purchased the car

was thinking of the UCP kit, but after trying the stock pedal, it's honestly not that bad, as long as the friction point is constant and predictable. I used to own a G37S 6MT, and the stock clutch pedal on that is total garbage. The friction point is literally floating, as in random and unpredictable.
