Small backseat. Might as well be a coupe. This matters if you're a tall guy (which I think you are from reading some of your other posts). No free maintenance, brakes/rotors would be an issue with me as well. For some reason, Lexus' are super expensive for me to insure. Don't know whether that is the case for everyone but might want to look into that prior to purchase.
The IS-F looks sick in person IMO. Just be prepared for it eating gas and for higher gas prices with the coming inflation/dollar devaluation. |

Father had an IS350 for just under a year, and had nothing but TERRIBLE experiences. I'd considering something other than the IS. I really can't emphasize enough how unhappy he was. Constantly had little electrical bits breaking, seat belt broke, and the seats... THE MOST UNCOMFORTABLE seats in the world. I have NEVER felt more uncomfortable seats in a car EVER. This may sound silly, as Lexus is known for having comfortable seats, but these were TERRIBLE. The exacerbated his sciatica to the point where his orthopedist actually told him to get another car. At one point, my sister started crying from the back pain after riding in the car for 8 hours or so. Handling was awful, my '03 Cobra handled rings around that car. Hell, my Volvo S60R handled rings around that car.
I will never buy another Lexus after how terrible that car was. Major service department issues also, but I can't blame that on the brand. CTS-V? C63? New S4? EDIT: Also, have you seen the track times? I mean the real track? In C&Ds latest comparo, it got LIT UP by a 135i around the track. Not to mention a Cobalt SS. It can't keep up with sports sedans/coupes at less than half the price, why on earth would you buy one? I can't imagine the handling is much better than a school bus given how terrible the track times are with that much power. My father made the mistake of buying the IS350 for similar reasons. Stylish, reliable, cheap, and quick. Biggest car buying mistake of his life. To this day he swears up and down it was a worse car than his Ford Exploder. Not trying to shit in your ear or rain on your parade, just reccomending you look around before throwing that kinda money around. You could get an RS4 for that much money.

Just because your dad had problems, doesn't mean anything. There will always be a bad apple here and there. And track times? Most people live 99.9999999999% of time in real life, where all those small differences are null.

OP - my friend has it....amazing sound above 4k RPMS....but in terms of the driving dynamics...I love my 335i more...It really didn't seem that different too me than an IS350 but I guess that is the difference between owning an IS-F and test driving one! Good luck man! IT IS a fast car!

Totally agree that everyone non-M3 is equipped with an M-Sport body kit, in fact almost every BMW be it from the 1 series to the 5 series. |
