This sucks that all the buzz has died down and the flow of information is SO dead that we are reduced to talking about the material of the center console. BMW release more information!!!!

On all trim versions of the new BMW M3, the console is finished in black leather, harmoniously extending the instrument surrounds and control area in both the right colour and design. Best regards, south |

I don't care what the center console is made of. I was simply stating that the information flow of all info has died down alot.

Autocar magazine stated they'd be driving it in June in the issue following the Geneva unveilling of the concept.

Thanks for that info. I must have missed it as I was reading. I am just glad that it is not plastic. However I think if it continued the trim choice, it might have been better. For example in the M5, I had brushed aluminum and it was also in the center console by the gear lever as well and it looked really good IMO. |

The sad fact in cars these days is that every interior is mostly plastic. Even leather trimmed interiors are just plastic underneath. Besides my E36 M3 has a full plastic dash with a leather look imprint. Plastic interiors in M3's or any BMW is nothing new. I am glad to see the the console is leather wrapped though..

FYI, a leather center console option on the Porsche is over $1,000... This car also has the extended leather, so that all along the dash below the trim matches the interior leather colour. This tends to upgrade the feel of the car by eliminating a lot of plastic.
