My Melbourne ESS 625

My car is almost finished to the way I envisioned the project two years ago. My only mod left is a BBK kit. Most of the modifications were completed by a local shop called MTechnik and I owe the owner Will a big thank you for guiding me and taking the extra care that he does when installing parts. I also owe my friend Jorge a big thank you for guiding me along and offering advice on mods and configurations. He too had an e92M with the ESS 625 and was the reason I chose the same kit. The photos were taken by a couple of guys from Modified to Drive and I owe them a thank you as well.

Thank you, I think a very boring black or silver Stoptech or Brembo. anything else will probably not look right. i'm leaning towards black. i'm still undecided to change the oem system.

thank you very much. the wheels are probably my favorite purchase. they are forgelines I bought from a local, fellow forum member and it took me forever to source the dinan/forgeline caps. the caps alone are a milling work of art.

Thank you very much, Krylon and I will take credit for that.

What color Krylon did you use? Did you sand it first? Clear coat? Very interested in doing this on my MR.

^^ Car looks AWESOME man! I wouldn't have any reservations with your decision to build up the E92 vs moving to a F8X.

i'll start by saying the conditions were horrible, windy cold winter day in the mid 40s.

i took off the velocity stacks and taped off the bypass vavle because i did not have a gasket for it and was in a rush to have the kit installed.

the previous owner spray painted the manifold so I spent an hour or so sanding the old paint down and used that as the primer. i sprayed a light coat of krylon primer and let it dry for a day. the next day i sprayed four coats of the red, with drying it in-between coats with a hair dryer. the sun is the best paint cure. and there wasn't any sun those two days. i then sprayed a metalic red that i thought would match the melbourne but my two critics didn't approve so I sprayed one last coat of the red and let it dry overnight.

if you pm me, i'll look at the kyrlon color on both cans and give you their exact name. i regret not going with the metalic red i chose but it came out ok. next time i remove the mainfold for any reason i'm going to sand it and paint it again with motorsport stripes and the metalic color i have. the blower housing looks professionally painted by the previous owner and the velocity stacks are black anodized. I hope this helps.

Thank you, the same friend that helped me during my build sold his boosted m for an m4 and i believe he has zero regrets doing so, especially since he's now on JB4 software. the m4 is a beast when modded and will certainly be my next car. i'm just unsure when, i love my current car.

I'm sure he does. I agree the new M4 tuned is definitely a beast and I'm sure will get faster. Have you done any pulls with your buddy? How'd you fair?

If you love your car then just enjoy it... Always have time to buy a new M4 later down the road... You might be experience "the grass is greener on the other side" syndrome... I know I do every once in awhile but am quickly reminded of how much I enjoy my car everytime I take her for a spin, escpecially after have it stored for 4+ months.

Car looks fantastic!! Love MR. Call me crazy, but I think some yellow Brembo's would look amazing , but you can't go wrong with silver/black.
