Evolve Stage 2 Flash w/ overrun & " testpipes " (video)

Hi all, I just wanted to share my experience with my latest Evolve file that i requested to be aggressive. My purchase also came with the GTS-DCT and Servotronic file at the time they had a group buy as well. Options I selected specifically for the engine ECU:

Stage II file:
93 octane
8,600rpm limit
exhaust overrun

My mods:
K&N Filter
MS pullies
Gutted primary cats (essentially a test pipe that will pass visual inspection)

I recently ran a 12.2@116mph with a 1.9 60ft time (rounded to the nearest tenth) with these mods (7-DCT)

Impressions of the file:

Excellent, stronger than my last file, and makes the car feel complete. The VANOS overlap changes and ignition/fueling changes gives the exhaust a harder edged growl at part-throttle, yet still a nice metallic howl at WOT that's an S65 characteristic, yet substantially louder, even with the OEM muffler, with the gutted primary cats. It's hard to describe without experiencing it yourself. It's like there is always a power reserved without needing to amplify the throttle sensitively; power is always waiting to be unleashed at a touch of the throttle, and you get this impression whether 10% or 80% throttle, and the file just makes the car feel like it's at 150% at 100% throttle. The overrun snap-n-crackle isn't an annoyance, but rather an extension to the exhaust noise when aggressively downshifting or snapping the throttle plates closed at higher rpm.

Excuse the zip-tie in the video, that's how I attached my old Samsung Moment onto the back bumper grill (pretty darn secure using that grill, no excuse to not make an exhaust video). The crack-n-pop exhaust overrun is evident closer to the end of the video.

Damn that's just with testpipes with a stock exhaust?? That sounds pretty loud just with that setup. Sounds good!

essentially yes, but my did exhaust got growlier (is that even a word?), more nasal, more metallic in howl (without being raspy), and noticeably louder (but still OEM drone-free) with the latest file I received from Evolve.

However, I'm quite shocked how much louder the car is outside (but only slightly louder tone inside the car) directly after gutting the primary cats; the OEM muffler is well-designed.

Thanks, it's too bad I ran over some tree bark near the end to spoil the pop-snackle noise, however, you can still hear it prior to me running over the tree fallings.

Thanks. Yes, the crackle is very subtle without any muffler mod (and surprising that it's still present despite not being advertised as so) or having the secondary cats still in place and would be more prominent with those things.

update after two gas tanks and 400 miles, snap/burbbles happens more than initially loaded, a nice addition to the soundtrack and never overdone. I recommend anyone who is cattless to try out Evolve's file, gives the s65's already distinctive exhaust howl a welcomed surprise..

Exhaust sounds great but I was hoping for higher frequency of subtle burble.

The burble or snaps sounds like mild antilag

by frequency, are you referring to Hz or occurrence?

Occurrence. I was hoping it'll be slightly lesser than Jag F-Type.

If the sound of the burble is more bassy, IE close to 991 under deceleration this would be perfect.

Stock E9X 335s makes similar bassy burbles if you try downshifting from 3rd to 2nd keeping the RPM within the 3000rpm-2000rpm range.

I understand now. Stock 335's can be manipulated by the driver to actually increase that bassy burble by very lightly pressing or ocillating the gas pedal to slightly open the throttle plate and have the injectors squirt fuel upon deceleration. A nice neat trick with that engine, unfortunately I dont think it works for our engines. Also, their mufflers are pretty straight through when the drivers side exhaust valve is opened, which again can be manipulated by disconnecting the vacuum line, which will amplify the burble/backpop.

Look through other videos posted that contain more aftermarket exhaust pieces, you may find/hear the results you're looking for.
