Cars and Coffee: All cars made after 1978 BANNED

Just read on the C&C Irvine forum that from now on all cars made after 1978 are banned from the event.

No more Carrera GTs, Enzos, Veyrons, F40s, F50s, Murcis, Gallardos, Ford GTs, Z8s, M3s, M5s, GT3s, GT2s, 993, 996, etc etc.

No more late model Mustangs even though the event is graciously hosted on FORD property.

They also went on to call people who take photos and videos of cars coming and going from the event "idiots".

It's nice to know what the organizers really think of us after years of support and free publicity for their event. Needless to say, I won't be going back unless they back off these stupid new rules.

That would really suck if they are really go on with these changes. The newer cars is what draws the attention and gives them publicity in the first place.

We'll just start a new event, no old car douchebags and coffee.

What in the hell kind of nonsense is this? I would personally organize an event to fill the void and no one collecting social security is allowed in.

Wow. I'm a regular visitor to C&C and a member on the forum and I can't believe this shit. I figured at some point that they might have to somehow filter the types of cars that were allowed to park in the lot, but wasn't sure how that would take place. Pre 1978 are most of the cars that I don't even care to see, with the exception of 60s-70s muscle cars. I usually wizz right past the older cars to make sure I get a good look at the new ones. If this is going to stand, you can be sure that I won't be there in the future. This is really disappointing.

Very stupid.....they are going to loose TONS of publicity....& attendance...soon there will be hardly any attendance..... When I'm in the LA area I go, but only to see the EXOTICS....I could care less about muscle cars...we got those up here too.... So now I know not to waste my time

Check out how empty today's C&C was. Looks like this move is really working out for them, LOL.

imho, FStop7 has exaggerated quite a bit.

Has anyone read the statement by C&C. It sounds perfectly understandable. And have you read the responses? Just about everyone is in agreement. No one is freaking out over it.

Park in the spectator's lot, so what? I've already see enough M3's, etc.. on the freeway everyday. And what's the deal with videotaping every car coming out and crowding up on a public street? And begging for burnouts and revs. YouTube mania?

Remember, C&C developed out of the original Crystal Cove event. The internet has made C&C something different all together, and they just want to rein things back in a bit. After all, it's their event.

Start your own event. No one is stopping anyone. But remember it will take a lot of effort to do so.

When I made this thread this was the official word. I accept your apology, in advance.

I just returned from C&C. Way too many "normal" cars in the display area. We had to close the "Display" lot at 7:15 because of overcrowding. Today was not the vision of C&C. We have decided, starting next Saturday only "pre" 1978 and "Special Classic Automobiles" will be allowed into the "Display" lot. All others will be directed towards the "Spectator" lot and parking structure. There is a new "Every Saturday" car show starting in Orange County that may appeal to many enthusiasts starting March 7th. Go to www.orangecountycarshow.com . Please pass the word.

What you originally posted is not the case of what is happening to C&C. Thankfully you are not employed as an investigative reporter.

Read closely the official statement from Freeman.

I accept your apology in advance.

The rest of you, don't jump to such conclusions. Save that for propagating urban myths.
