Thanks. May have to cancel my upcoming ski trips to Colorado and Montana after watching those two clips.

Nothing scary about number one, that is how all crosswind landings look. You deflect the aileron into the wind to prevent drift and use the rudder to keep going in the right direction and align with the runway, once your low enough you deflect it back and align exactly with the runway. If they didn't do that they would drift away from the runway and/or experience and uncomfortable updraft. Everyone appeared to realize that and did the exact same thing.

Number 2 is old news, that is kai tak airport which has been closed for years now and due to its location winds were very strong often resulting in some funny landings, one China Air 747 ended up in that bay.

I was on a flight to Las Vegas once that had noticeable crosswind on the landing, not to the extent of that 747 video though. It was definitely trippy looking out the window, seeing a crooked approach to the runway, then feeling the right side landing gear make contact and straighten the plane in relation to the runway.

please, all those are child's play......imagine trying to land at this airport in the dark or in bad weather. Cant rely on nothing but your IFR and damn skills.

Its caused crabbing. Its how you deal with crosswinds on landing.

We design an undercarriage to deal with these sorts of landings. If you guys have questions about it let me know.

wow! that approach is unbelievable! i doubt the FAA would approve an instrument approach there, if it were governed by them.

i've flown into aspen a few times and that's the toughest approach i've personally flown. not much margin for error there surrounded by mountains.

That's awesome, I know it might be regular for the pilots but it does look cool, and I absolutely love the stance of the planes, I believe it is the newest 737 that has an amazing front stance, the wingspan is huge!

Paro Airport is restricted to Visual meteorological conditions, and only daylight hours from sunrise to sunset. Equipments are restricted to A320 families I believe and only 8 pilots in the world are certified to operate in and out from this airport.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paro_Airport

Paro is scarier, but nothing compares to the sensation at landing on Kai Tak's 13. The wide bodies on close proximity to downtown Kowloon City, and was one of the busiest single runway operating airport.

(I am biased, I grew up with Kai Tak...)

You wouldn't be landing that in IFR, that has to be a visual only approach.
Never had a chance to fly into Kai Tak but it reminds me of the VOR13L at JFK only with some hills.
