Z06 130mph in the 1/4....stock

except for the rubber. 129mph on the stock run flats.

this is why I say I dont believe the GTR claims for their ring times etc.....I dont see GTR strip times anywhere close to this.

Here you go, from a bimmerforums thread of mine:

saw all the responses to my response on the Z06 vs Skyline thread saying a stock Z06 can trap 130mph.....

here you go..... I can tell you Jamie is a maniac at the strip and is PISSED when he doesnt do well. He had his tuned Ford GT and his GT2 there. the GT never hit the 10's despite the fact that it was a tuned GT....well his Z06 did, on both stock runflats and drag radials.

see here: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1876797

my pics of his cars from an earlier November '07 track rental....

That might be true, but dont you think the GTR will start showing signs of wear on its components quite fast given its curb weight?? I think people who purchased one with the intention of beating the snot out of it will have a lot of upkeep on their hands.

GTR is a sick car.....not taking anything away from it at all!

still....I cant wait to see what the ZR1 puts down

that wasnt an argument, how many cars that weigh as much as the GTR do you see taking repeated abuse on the track? Weight is key, I'm honestly surprised Nissan allowed the GTR to eat that much.

Since when do quarter mile times dictate road racing performance?

people who live their lives one quarter mile at a time believe that straight line speed = racing.

still depends on the track, it could be fast track. Unless your friend buys an GTR and do runs in both cars in similar condition on the same track, there's really nothing to prove. He should ditch the Ford GT and get a GTR

Judging by his 1.77 60ft, that guy can obviously drive. Not everyone is going to achieve that ET/60ft/MPH.

How many cars can surpass the numbers the GTR puts down on a track? The ones you have to have to turn the steering wheel left and right, I mean. I enjoy reading things like this when the M5/M6 weigh even more, yet there's never been anything said about things breaking in it.

Z06 is an amazing machine, but 99% of the other american cars are still garbage.

It's a shame that I can only think of a select few US cars that I can actually commend...let's see...

-CTS (new)
-Malibu (s'alright)
-Z06/ZR-1 (lumped 'em together)
-Camaro (new, might not even be good)
-Challenger (wins on hotness alone)
-Mustang (I'm very reluctant to include this in the list, but there's tons of modded versions worthy of commendation)
-Wrangler (fun w/ a stick)
-G8 GT

AMAZING.
I am amazed that a stock Z06 beat a Modified Ford GT. THat is the one I fins hard to believe unless tha mods did not help and this is what we are seeing.

also youo should change the title of the thread. His car did NOT hit 130 in the 1/4 mile. It hit 129. It only counts as 130 if he was 130.00 or higher. You dont round up in this case. Amazing anyways.

I agree with this but I would take the Malibu off the list and add the solstice/sky with the turbo engine only. I also have driven the new CTS with 300+ hp and its SLOWER than my 330i. The interior on the car is awesome but it does not drive as well as everyone is saying. Compared to an American car it drives great but compared to the REAL competetion it is decent at best.
