Talking Recaro Sporster CS Seats

Well since BMW stopped production of the performance seats I only had one option and it was the Recaro Sportsters CS. They were ordered directly from Recaro in Stuttgart Germany. The seats come with heated option and side air bags. Will post pictures once they are installed in the car, waiting on the mounting hardware from EAS.

Very nice. I'm curious how much, if any, weight savings there are when these are spec'd with the side airbags.

I'm pretty sure there is some weight reduction even with side air bags.

That would be great. Any chance you would be kind enough to weigh them before you install?

Yeah I'll make sure I do, but I think there's a thread that some one else did weighted them and it was less weight than OEM.

Beautiful seats, very interested in their weight as well. Price wise, were they about on par with the BMW Performance seats?

They are the same as the Performance Seats! Just that BMW had a contract with Recaro to develop seats for them with the BMW Logo on it and a cosmetic difference than the Sportster CS one. If you compare them side by side they are the same except for the extra ridges, color, and the performance name embroidered on the back rest of the Performance seats.

They look fantastic. I'd be interested in the weight difference over OEM. I would love to go this route but i'm worried that I would lose the adjustability of the stock seats. I'm 6'4'' and need to be able to adjust the seats to fit my long legs

This is why I'm waiting on the mounting hardware from EAS. Recaro don't supply slider track to move the seat back and forth. Had to order everything from EAS mounting plates, seat belt receptacle, and slider tracks.

I have these in my car and they're very comfortable - was worried since it's my DD how they'd feel over stock but they feel great, couldn't go back to stock seats!

Mines were ordered by my Buddy who's a mechanic and has accounts with suppliers so don't really know how much they came out to as I paid him to do a few things on my car to include the seats but I figure between $2800 to $3200 for me as the BMW Performance Seats were quoted for $3200 directly from BMW here in Germany

I've just ordered a set of bare bones recaro sportsters from Turner, I also ordered recaro mounts and sliders from them. Not sure why people are posting recaro doesn't make sliders?

I didn't order seat belt receptacles though (using existing three point belt for now). Turner said I can use the stock one, I'm assuming by removing it from factory seat. Can anyone confirm this, the last thing I want is to have everything removed and ready to install and find out I need a damn seat belt receptacle!

Thanks

Also if your like me and not getting airbags, and pretty sure know one will be using the passenger occupancy sensor, you'll either need the ms module to clear faults or get some custom coding.

I recommend the coding, the ms module disables the passenger (or maybe all) airbags. I talked to Mike at BPM and they will code out all errors and basically make the car think there is always someone in the passenger seat so that airbag will go off if in an accident.

For some this may not matter but for me I still drive on the street and want airbag active for my passengers.

yes, EAS can do the same coding as well IIRC

What about the MS seatbelt receptacles, are these necessary or can I just remove the stock receptacle from the stock seat and mount onto the recaro (I am using stock seatbelt).

I ordered everything from EAS. Mounts, Sliders, and Receptacles just to make sure I had everything needed for the install. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it IMO. As for Recaro not making the sliders they do just that the seats doesn't come with them as part of the kit. Has to order separatly.

Do these come with the harness under the seat so that they are just plug and play (plus coding for the airbag)?
