Analogue for me - just feels like a more natural transition for me since it's force of habit to check RPMs first and speed second. Not to mention that I'm old and get easily confused by digital doodads.

BTW - on a related note, I just noticed that the markers on our speedometers are more widely spaced below 80 than they are above to account for slower acceleration capabilities at higher speeds and to allow the driver to get an accurate read relatively quickly at normal road speeds. Now where is that 'things you didn't know about your M3 thread"?

Your (analog) speedometer is wedge shaped rather than round? Unless you're racing.

it seems the analog speedometer has way too many dashes, lines and numbers which makes it hard to read at a simple glance with minimal time of eyes off the road

I'm weird and like uniform things and it actually bothers me quite a bit that the tach isn't symmetrical

It's not only not symmetric but the scale does not adjust uniformly -- it is piecewise linear stepping at 100 mph. It would have looked better if it were logarithmic.

Add "tons of body hair" to that picture and that's about right!

I have the same problem with the steering wheel obstructing most of my view of the analog speedo. But I obsess about the mpg, so I usually have the digital readout set for that. I end up relying on either cruise control or the Valentine to moderate my speed.

Thanks for reminding me of the other meaning of speedo I had just about purged those images from my brain.

Just for that, may you all dream of 400lb women in bikinis.
