LUX vs OSS LED's
So I'm convinced that the next mod will be a pair of LED angel eyes, and while I like camaross305's HID's, they're a bit too much light for me. So LED's it is! The question is, which ones??!!
I'm leaning more towards OSS's or LUX's. Sorry, but I don't want to include AiB's as I don't want issues with my lights. Which one's would you choose? Which ones are brighter? (some technical data to support this would be nice) Cheers! Nick p.s. I know they are a bunch of LED threads, but none compare these two. So let the poll begin!!

Honestly - comparing these 2 is like apples and oranges i think
with the LUX - its a bulb replacement that you can do on your own, and doesnt require modifications. With the OSS - they open the headlights and completely replace the angel eyes and internals of the headlights. Its also much much more expensive. Just my thoughts. The OSS led's do look pretty awesome i must admit |

Honestly, go with OSS if your willing to ship your lights out to Miami. It is obviously the best solution, BUT the LUX is gorgeous. You gotta check mine out. I think you would love it. the last time you saw my car, it had the HIDs. I HATED them with a passion! Wayyyyy too bright IMO.
Too hard to vote, because OSS is just sooooooooo different. You cant really compare these two products

OSS definitely looks better. I may do these at some point as well. But the one question is what happens 6 months from now if something fails in the design? Or the re-sealing of the headlight housing? You're pretty much F'd. Even though they offer warranty to fix it. The good thing about bulb replacements is you can just pull them out and put OEM back if necessary. Everyone always claims there will be no problem with their aftermarket part, but rarely have I seen an aftermarket part that doesn't at some point have some sort of issue. But again OSS is really nice looking... tough choice

Problem is OSS is that it takes away from the OEM look and feel of the car in my opinion. Gives the feeling of a riced out VW trying too hard. (purple tint/color)
While Lux gives you the best OEM classiness with the aftermarket brightness and looks. IMO Lux is the best angel eye kit on the market, besides being slightly bigger than AiB or your other alternative, Lux delivers the best light output while sustaining the uniformity of the angel eye rings. The quality of the resistors, bulb, wiring is also very impressive. Get the Lux, because the only best alternative is if BMW makes a OEM Led angel eyes.

I also wonder if BMW will change the angel eyes to include LEDs for the E92/93 LCI update.

In reality, I just wonder who would be skillful enough to feel comfortable about baking open their headlights and resealing them later.

Fifth, I know you have a thread on you LUX's, but do you have any daylight shots with direct sunlight? Does anyone know which bulb, AiB or LUX uses a higher powered LED?

I did it on my STi. It was very easy and the headlights never developed any problems - had the car almost 6 years. Of course, the M3 headlights are much more expensive, so that could add to the stress factor.

+1 I did it on my 2002 Honda Civic headlights, and my friends 2001 Honda Civic Headlights. We took out the orange pieces. I dont think I would do it to my M3 headlight, as it probably costs close to the price of my civic at the time.

I'm only comparing them because they're both LED.

I don't know how OSS opens the headlights. I can tell you that most modern headlights are sealed together with an adhesive/sealant. The headlights can be opened by baking at a low temperature for a controlled amount of time, or through the use of a heatgun. Personally, I baked my STi headlights and had no issues over a long period of ownership. I'm sure that whatever OSS does, it is totally safe for the headlights. |

Its relatively easy to bake open a headlight and do the work, you just need to be careful once the headlight is open.
The OSS is without a doubt is a great innovation for e92 AE lightning, but for the work that needs to be done and waiting time I went with LUX. sure, its been raining for the past few days here in NY, when the sun comes out ill snap some pics
