Installed: F30 M Performance Knob

Ever since the F30 M performance equipment was announced, I had my eyes on the new knob. In terms of size, this is almost 100% similar to the E9X M performance knob. However, the F30 has CF inserts and has the alcantara boot with white stitching.

Following the F10 M5 knob install steps, today I popped this sucker in.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=773929

Pros: Knob is weighted, thinner than the OEM "goose neck", feels much better to the touch, CF insert.

Cons: no lighting, For me it's about 1 inch too short.

This knob is about 3/4 inches shorter than OEM.

btw, can't claim credit for being the first to do this mod:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=812800

Next mods:
I'm attempting to put the OEM lighting circuit board and connector to light it up.
I'm thinking about contacting IND for a custom 1 inch shift extension adapter.

That looks good. I'd hold off on the extension as you might get use to it. And the matching parking brake if it fits would be cool.

I must say....I do like the f30 interior.

Shifter looks kind of small, like it needs more heft. But it still looks good.

I read somewhere the F30 wheels will not fit the E9x due to airbag differences. I'm not sure about the newer M Performance Wheels.

On a side note, the F30 knob's white stitching matches the original V1 wheel.

Prefer the regular one without the Knight Rider display.

just saw this question...the boot comes with the F30 knob and boot ring, all part of the package, but you have to detach the boot from the boot ring.

I know this is kind of pointless but...

Isn't the "M Performance" stuff 1 step below the actual ///M products? I know it's just a shift knob but damn BMW for making it so confusing

Some products are "M-branded". This perf knob, however, is weighted and very well made
