Residual on a '08 M3?

As I understand it, the residual is the only thing still not released that is needed by dealers to determine a monthly payment price on a lease for a new M3. Is that right? If so, any idea when this will be coming out?

I really want to place my order but want the monthly agreed to up front (don't want to place my order with nothing already agreed to and get hosed when the dealer says "Okay, your monthly is $1,400/month)!

So we know the money factor? I am guessing the residual will be between 58 and 62%. I am in the same boat as you. I have a deposit down on an M3 (have had one for over 6 months now), but I currently have an Audi S5 on order in case the lease numbers are crap on the M3 (and I can always cancel the S5 order if I pick the M3).

I'm hoping that the M3 is similar to the M5v10 in regards to residuals. It even after 3years still it still holds 65% of it's value which equates to £43.5K, that's a drop of £23.5K. If the same residuals apply to the M3 that means in 3years it will be worth £33K, dropping only £17K.

I sincerely hope it doesn't match the M6 because after 3years it only holds 50% and that means it loses a whopping £41,750, that almost £18K more than the M5 and when you combine what you paid extra with the extra money you lose by buying the M6 that equates to an incredible £34K.

I know this may only apply to the UK but for us lot over here it is something to think about.

Nope. We need the money factor, too. I'm really running out of time because I'm hoping to take European Delivery the second week of April. If these numbers come out in the next week, I'm pretty confident I can still stick to my plan and take delivery on my birthday. Otherwise, the trip is going to have to be pushed back which would be a big disappointment.

I'm in the same boat--waiting for the lease payments. However I'm taking a chance and ordering the car this weekend. My dealer says that the MF and the residual will not be released until the official launch. Anyone hear anything different?

I might know soon being my dealer submitted my credit app to BMWNA and I should be getting a lease price soon.

I have chosen for a September delivery, I could take it sooner but as you are aware that is when UK reg. plates change again.

Plus this gives me time to hopefully see a few different colour combinations before finalising my own car.

What spec did you settle with yourself?

I finally settled on

4 door
SSII
Fox Red
Carbon Fibre Leather
19"
EDC
BT
USB

And a few other odds and ends, ends up at £54k

I really hope your right about that depreciation, I'm surprised people would pay more for a 3 year old M5 compared to M6, maybe a 4 door M3 will go for loads

If you get over to NE Scotland in the summer I'll take you for a spin

Nice spec, you have roughly picked the spec that I put down when placing my order originally. I don't know if I will stick with SSII because I have seen a few different colour that appeal to me but I have settled on FR interior.

I don't think we will see a similar result with the M3 coupe that is seen with the M6. For a start the M3 models are roughly priced the same over here, unlike the £18K difference that the M6 commands for basically the same car minus the space and a pair of doors.

On a different note I reckon the M-DCT will hold most of it's value at the start but expect it's residual value to drop as the novelity wears off and more makes offer something similar.
