I fail to see the point of the GT3 RS. Last time (997.1) it wasn't faster than the GT3 at all, but remarkably more expensive. I don't know if this has changed by much, but I doubt it. So it's an GTS for me in this comparison. I'd prefer a 'regular' GT3 to both, though.

Best regards,
south

Its lighter and wider then the normal GT3..... And now it all that and has more power then the normal GT3.

GT3/RS > All M's

I would much prefer to forgo a little bit of pace and keep the creature comforts so I would take neither, so given the expenditure I would probably chose an R8v10.

GT3/RS > All M's
It has 15hp over a regular GT3 and a little lighter, so unless you are a professional driver I doubt you will be any quicker in it over the regular GT3. Then what's the point in wasting the money unless you are filthy rich or a snob that needs people to know it's the RS model and not the regular car.

Not an Audi hijack, only an opinion, to me I wouldn't want to forgo the comfort and as either regular car was nearly as quick and given the expense I would probably chose another brand. It could have been many a brand given the figure involved I simply picked the R8 as an example. An American member may very well sub the R8 for a ZR1.

OK man no offence intended, I chose the 458 Italia, I will never buy a 911.

The power/weight ratio of the GT3RS is around 5% better than the ratio of the GT3 (7,17 lbs/hp GT3; 6,8 lbs/hp GT3RS). That's within the usual tolerance. You don't expect miracles from that difference, do you? Besides the bigger show-off factor, I don't see what's worth 20k more in the USA or rather EUR 30k more in Europe.

Best regards,
south

That would be an R8 Spyder for me, it's still less than an GT3 RS here.

My point exactly, I just don't think some of these guys seriously think things through properly. The skill involved to notice any kind of improvement on the track compared to the GT3 would be vast, much greater than most here would be capable of.

So to Jonmartin's reply I ask once more, do you really have the skill required to benefit from the RS model or is your preference solely driven by snob factor of owning the more exclusive model?

...and for this reason and this reason alone; BMW would never bring the GTS here...no loyalists like Porsche has. Thats why they never imported the CSL(not bcuz it was too expensive to crash test or import) because BMWAG knows very little Americans would have bought it up....everyone talks big about wanting a CSL but when it comes down to it, people can't afford it. There are people on this forum who can barely afford a Basic M3 but cry and holler that they would buy a CSL or GTS...but in the end when it comes down to putting your money on the table...people freak when it gets to real. Hence why BMW will hardly go big in on anything for BMWNA...and lets not forget those who blame everyone else if they slam on there breaks and their coffee spills and burns them they want someone to pay for it when it was their fault to begin with because they were being an irresponsible driver for talking or texting on the phone whiile driving in heavy traffic!

You forgot about the wider body with a wider track for better directional stability and cornering grip. Along with better Aero from the larger wing even if its slightly better its still better no matter what.

I'd drive the superior car because its better since when do people buy cars based on skill level? alot of people cant drive their M3's properly either does that mean they should have bought an Audi?

This should be an advantage, but didn't help the 997.1 GT3 RS one bit over the GT3. What's different this time?
