I like!

When you consider the racing heritage and history, the M3 is a very special car to own. No matter what year/gen anytime you hear "M3", it always commands a level of respect.
Either that or all of us M enthusiasts are brainwashed.

Unfortunately, I believe BMW will be exiting Le Mans racing in the next few years, because BMW is going to a “FI” 6-cylinder in the next gen M3. There are currently no manufacturers running FI in the GT2 class. Regulations will keep them from running in the GT2 class of ALMS or at 24 Le Mans.

They can no longer make a limited production car as they did with the E46 M3 GTR V8, rules and regulations do not allow it. For example ALMS rules state the road car must have 100 units and 1,000 engines built to qualify to race.

I think BMW announcing they are joining DTM was a preemptive strike, to save face when the pull out of Le Mans racing in the coming years.

I don't think BMW will exit Le Mans racing becuase of FI. Look at the Nissan GTR for example, its a 6 cylinder FI car, but competes in the JGTC with a N/A V8. Im sure BMW would have an alternate N/A engine for Le Mans racing.

I do not like they used the M3 E30 for marketing the M135is E82. Can't wait to se how the next M3 F32 will be.
