Is the RS4 as tuneable as the M3?
Are there similar tuning options available for the RS4?
Ie is there an equivalent to ESS for Audi? And what type of gains can be got from ECU or even Superchargers etc? Thanks Tom

ill chime in for ya, there isnt that much out there for the car, yet......
there is a company out there, JHM, that has done wonders for the b6/7 V8 4.2, and you can expect some serious gains..... little bit of a link as for resources, i gotta suggest audizine and audiworld, but to keep up with JHM's progress euroaddiction is probaby be your best bet.... they got 40-60whp (matters on dyno/car) from the 4.2 b6/7 s4 with piggies, tune, and catback, and they are gonna run about the same for the RS4. imho for about $1500 (piggies are basically free if you gut them), 40-60whp on na is insane.... plus, and im gonna catch flax for this, nothing sounds like a 4.2 only issue with the RS4 is carbon buildup, so have the car checked up, and contemplate a catch can. good luck, its a great car!

calm yourself. catch cans have been doing their job, so there is a solution, or so it seems

both VF and JHM (in the works?) have supercharger kits on the market (there are one or two others as well) for the rs4 which only came out fairly recently. there's not much space under the hood to work which restricted the availability of turbo/supercharger systems.
IIRC, all the kits are north of $10k excluding labor (ex: vf's system is 17k and gets you 560hp crank). there are some boltons for the rs4 that get you good HP (headers + good exhaust). It's still early in the RS4 tuning cycle and interest only picked up for the last waterfest. in the s4 world boltons are running similar times to supercharged cars with no mods. not too much bang for the buck IMO. |

rs4 superchargers by PES and VF and JHM(possibly?)
chip tuning is a waste of money, the engine is tuned to it's potential by Audi already. all the SC's are a waste of money as well, little gains for big bucks. if you want to spend that kind of money, get an R8. more M3's out there so there are more SC options? i don't really know. |

I personally don't think a modern engine needs to be modifid to be run as advertised for an extended period of time. I think Audi has addressed the issue poorly and it speaks to the attitude towards their customers. Just the way I see things. I'm ABSOLUTELY not saying BMW is without fault in this regard.

A lot of our RS4 customers have modded their vehicles, but I wouldn't say they're as wild as the BMW M3 crowd.
But there are a ton of great tuning programs out for that car. |
