Question Is OEM Exhaust 3 Or 4 Pieces?

looking at the entire oem exhaust does it fall off in 3 or 4 pieces? from the pic im assuming 4 the cats, xpipe, connecting, and muffler?

or is it just 3 pieces cats and xpipe welded together, connecting, and muffler hence slip on exhaust systems only being connecting and muffler...

3 pieces:

X-pipe

Left muffler

Right muffler

The connecting pipes are part of the each muffler assembly. That's why you have to cut them for certain aftermarket exhausts.

wait what .

ok the connecting pipe and muffler are connected hence the slip on exhaust systems being 100% bolt on.

now is the cat and xpipe connected or does the xpipe fall off the cat? by cat i mean the front pipe with the 02 sensor.

Wow, that was pretty bad of me. I was thinking of my RPI setup, it's been so long since I was stock.

Stock is two pieces. X-pipe, and muffler. The connecting pipes are integrated into the muffler.

The stock exhaust system is four pieces:

- 2 x Headers (#4 in the picture above)
- 1 x Down Pipe/X-Pipe (#2 and #3 in the picture above - i.e #2 and #3 is a single piece)
- 1 x Mufflers (#1 in the picture above)

^picture up there labeled 1-4 is correct except most people don't consider the headers the 4th section.

no it's not. Headers, xpipe, mufflers. 3 sections if you count headers.
