Rear pads at 7MM thickness
I'm attending an HPDE at VIR for 2 days
My rear pads were both measured at 7mm and my rotors were measured at 23.10MM (left) and 22.8MM (right) The minimum spec for the rotors are 22.4MM; while minimum for brakes are 3MM Will I be fine for 2 days at VIR HPDE (Novice)? Thanks |

With reasonable driving you should be fine. Concentrate on following your instructor's coaching and driving the line. As a novice, speed should not be a large part of your driving exercise, thus real hard brake usage should be minimum. What event are you attending - Tarheel?

I've done Summit point about 3 times already. Twice on Jefferson and once on Main Circuit. This will be my first time at VIR. Thanks everyone! |

I'm going to be coming to the event as well. Looking forward to seeing you guys there.
On the subject of brakes, How often do you guys change your fluid? I've usually only done about 1 event a year, so I have always flushed the fluid before an event. But in this case, it has only been 4 months since I flushed it with Motul for the last event. I was leaning towards another flush to be safe. What do you guys think? |

I would think that you are fine with your current status. I track a lot, and change my fluid ever other event if I have pushed the car hard in both sessions. If not, then after every third event. I like brakes.

That's really nice of you. If you need help changing out the pads, I'll help you (I'll be attending this event too). I can change out the rears in about 20 min wheels off to wheels on if the whole back end of the car is up. I'm going to bring tools with me, but probably not a jack (which you can usually borrow from someone). I'm in white e90 with ZCP looking wheels (aftermarket). |
