Last MY 2009 production slot
I'm fairly new to this forum, but I'm a long time M owner/enthusiast. Took delivery of my new M3 coupe Sept 9th here in Germany. Prior to this I drove a 2002 E46 and loved it. This car is exceptionally prodigious! When I got here in late July I had the option to order either a 2009 or 2010 model. As I was thinking about it, the sales advisor called me and said there was only one production slot left for the '09 models and if I wanted an '09 I'd better act fast. So, after some accelerated deliberating and decision making I pulled the trigger on it. It is kind of cool having THE very last 2009 M3 to roll off the assembly line. Even cooler is living and driving it in the fatherland where the autobahn can be enjoyed, sans speed limits. Great to be here!!!

Great! Congratulations. If it were the very last 2008 you would probably feel not as good. There is virtually no difference between 09 and 10 (except perceived depreciation at resale).
Enjoy das Vaterland and take it to the track. |

Was that the last production slot for your dealer or the last production slot for the 2009 M3 overall? Some dealers have a limited number of production slots allocated to them per MY and that' s it. My dealer in Montréal had to swap a slot from another model with an M3 production slot from a Calgary dealer in order to order mine in May.
Congratulations on your purchase. |

Welcome aboard OP and congratulations!
You're sure to enjoy the car when it arrives. Are you certain you have the last one produced in '09? ...or just the last one available from your dealer's allocation? You may need to alter your avatar description...

Thanks for the welcome. It was indeed the last production slot. In Germany they don't give 'dealer' slot allocations (so I'm told). My advisor called the factory and they told he and the other dealer I was speaking with that they had three slots left before they shut down the factory. About an hour later he called and said there was one left. After weighing the 5% upcharge for the '10 vs. the minimal changes I decided to go with the '09. Took delivery less than 5 weeks later. The car has 1483km as of today. Looking forward to the celebrated 2000km service and freedom that comes with it.

What was your build date? I am curious to how close to the end of year mine was. 8.29.09 completion.
