I have the cheapest gas powered pressure washer that craftsman sells. I tried to go the electric route, but I have the uber foam cannon and none of the wands hooked up. Biggest downside to mine is size and noise, I have to wash my car fairly early in the morning due to heat to avoid as many water spots as possible and I'm pretty sure my neighbors hate me

Looking at the water filters, the shower water filter won't work at all with a garden hose (no pressure washer) since it doesn't flow very well.
I was looking at these RV filters and they look like they'll flow better and easier to install since you don't need any adapters. Some Amazon reviews say it works well for car washing too. http://www.amazon.com/Camco-40043-Ta...pr_product_top

Originally purchased for a marine reef aquarium, but I also have it piped to a storage tank to wash the car. SF water is clean, but it still leaves water spots. TDS meter on the tap reads about 20-25ppm, whereas with this unit you get 0ppm. |

It seems like the one from detailer's domain is pretty much the best one since you can replace the pump/motor unlike most. If I get more serious I'll go for that one.

I had weird results to be honest the following morning. Water spots were present but only in some areas. Idk what contributed to the uneven spots, but I can say that this will definitely help you in washing in any condition. I feel like if I were to wash in the sun this would help the time difference between water spots forming and me drying the car. Maybe I need to use it more to get better results. I honestly don't know if I have really hard water but I don't think it's that bad
