I got tired of waiting so I had my BMW body shop just take them off and paint them Space Gray to match. I asked about having it filled, then painted but I was told that they can't do that b/c the holes are too large. I figure at some point the front bumper will get messed up, so I will just wait till then to order the euro bumper.

How tough the Northeast is on cars. I had the same thing happen with my e46 M3. It was Imola Red, so I just swapped out the yellow reflectors w/ red ones. Then one day a guys tire blew apart 2 cars in front of my on the Garden State Parkway. Hitting 3/4 of a tire at 80mph messed up the front air dam, so, Euro Bumper it was.
I've got my fingers crossed, but between NJ highways, and the track time my e92 is gonna see it is only a matter of time...

Alright guys.... everyone who wants clear reflectors, looks like we're gonna have to find them ourselves. I propose everyone just keep an eye out for any car that has clear reflectors that are kinda the same size as ours. Then we can just make the modifications to the mounting clips. Maybe we can get lucky.
I saw a ford escort zx2 that had clear reflectors about the same size.... anyone else?

I know how to make clear ones but I need to know:
1. How do the yellow ones come off the car (how to remove)? 2. What does the backside of the yellow ones look like? (Can anyone post a picture?) Thanks

Remove the reflector by prying the bottom then slide down. There are three clips at the top that pressure fit the reflector into place. I just removed mine and it simply is the orange reflector plastic attached, probably glued, to the back piece. This back piece has the three clips on them. We need to find somewhere that sells the clear plastic and shape it ourselves or preferably cut the pieces to shape for us. Anybody know a company that does it?

From what I read, the reflectors are there because of DOT regulations. From memory, when I read up on the regulations, they had to be yellow or red reflectors! Hence, BMW will not offer a clear one...too much liability and potential trouble with DOT. We will have to wait for the aftermarket community to offer them. One suggestion: If you see clears on a Ford Escort (or whatever), find a comany that sells them and give them a call. If they did not make them, they may give up their contact info on who did! Then, you could contact them and inquire about making clears for the M3's.

Yeah, I would like to have the holes filled and painted, but for $600ish, I can live with painted reflectors for a while.

lol I didn't even realize I already replied to this thread earlier. I'll snap a few more for you when I get home if you want. I went to a NJ inspection station and they said that my reflectors will still pass so I guess that's a good compromise.
