Btw, I don't know if it is just me, but carbonleather looks 10x better than carbonfiber on the dash.

The new M5 was also at this event , if you look at some of the pictures you can see it behind the M3 Carbon Edition.

The M5 Concept car is currently on a tour of Asia.

Why do these Chinese editions always seem so corney?

The "Tiger" edition was corney as hell with that cheezy embossed tiger logo on the headrest and now this.

Is it me or that "Carbon Edition" sticker has got to go?

Reminds me of T-Shirts in Japan with English words that make no sense...LOL!

However, having said that, I wish BMW NA had the drive to come up with really cool, limited M3s for the US market.

lame, i thought carbon edition would mean carbon trunk lid, doors, fenders to shave off some weight which would have been uber cool and justified the ridiculous price.
some fool will buy this crap.

These cars are probably built by regional directors through the individual porgram. Everything on the car is off the shelf.

Personally I think some of the touches to the interior are really cool, and the exterior minus the badging isn't bad either.

I'd rather go nuts with the individual treatment. Then it's a "1 of 1" special edition

China makes tons of mods that you and i later buy on internet for BMW's. Half the products around the world are made in China.

Plus chinese people know how to do things with their own hands, unlike many people here in US who cant even change a light bulb in a bathroom.

The reason all 111 of these cars will sell on day one, is because Chinese are Crazy about brand names especialy when its made in limited numbers just for their market. Their mentality is very diferent compared to average US person.

We have sold ten M5's at this event alone. Customers will get their cars when the M5 arrives in China in January.

M3 Tiger edition Sold out as did the previous edition launched in Shanghai . We heavily expect this one to follow ,
China is a key important market for BMW M. BMW M is seen as youthfull brand not surprisingly that a lot of M customers are in their early twenties and is the key no 1 market for the BMW X5M and especially the BMW X6M that car is a very popular seller in China.

They have quite a lot of specific M events in China and are always with full attendance.
Will post some photos later.

When I went to Shanghai, I've learned that people view BMW's there as a pretty cheaply built car. Not a whole lot of people respect it cause people who buy them are mostly farmers who came into money all of a sudden. Partly is because most of the BMW's they get (apart from the M's) are built there and they do look pretty cheap compared to our German imported ones. Even the paint looks really cheap, like 80's ford cheap. No surprise this came out the way it did.
you mean the 3 series are all domestically produced? what about the 5?

Exactly. Not worth it. At all. Especially with no performance upgrades.
