Launch control
Ok so I realize I\'m gonna get a lot of crap for this question but how do you engage launch control, I have tried a lot of things and have had no luck. Any help is appreciated

Completely disagree, if you do up, up, down down you'll get the flag but it won't initiate the launch cascade however if you do the up, down, up down then it all works..I agree with the rest though (left right left right B A start)..and by the way adding the B before the A then start was a brilliant move
Now to answer the OP question:

You're waaaay off Sir...Well, not unless you have the 6MT..cause yes I agree You could go (up up down down) for 6MT launch control but there is no way it would work in DCT unless you follow my (up down up down)..

I thought BMW removed the launch control feature from the 2011.5 M3s because people couldn't figure out how to use the Search button.

Step by step:
1. Turn DSC off. 2. Put it on S it'll usually go to S3 3. Move it from S3 to S6 4. Push the shift lever forward and keep it pushed. 5. FLOOR the gas while keeping the shifter forward (car won't move but RPM will) 6. If you need to lower the RPM use the cruise control arm. 7. Whenever you let the shift lever go, it launches. Keep it floored. If you take your foot off then you ARE responsible for shifting, if you keep it floored it shifts up automatically.

I tried this the other day and had mixed results. I tried about 5x and only got the flag to come on once. Looking at this thread I think it was the brake causing my trouble. Does the brake have to be off right from the beginning? About how long should it take for the flag to come on after pushing the lever forward? I swear once I held it for 30s and gave up when a car was approaching behind me (in retrospect it was likely that I had pressed the brake)
I can understand why there are many threads on this. I had read a couple threads and checked the owners manual right before I attempted this and it was still sketchy. There are so many steps that have to be done just right that it's very annoying and frustrating. Last edited by gobrigavitch; 07-22-2011 at 08:21 PM.. Reason: Added 2nd paragraph |
