Road America on a Tuesday
Thought I'd take the wife's commuter to the track for some fun. This is my fastest lap, just can't seem to break 2:40, but had a blast over the 2 days. Had a ride along in an Ariel Atom... WOW!!! Also was a Ferrari 599 on track as well, hit 192 on the front straight but I passed him a few times Man I love this track and car
sorry for the crappy video, took it in HD but something got lost in translation. Thank you OC3 for helping me post this video

Wrap just the oOFB-rA_N1I portion by [u2b] and [/u2b].
Right now, you have the entire URL wrapped by [.url] and [./url] Nice driving/lines, btw.

Looks like a fun and fast track. I don't think I have ever seen so many bridges on one track though.

It's a little over 4 miles long and follows natural terrain. Need bridges. There are tunnels too.
I just had a diamond jubilee because if a 599 was hitting 192mph on the front straight I'm the Queen of England.

Nice Another place I need to make it to!
At least your day was great compared to this guy in a CTS-V wagon. http://www.onehotlap.com/2012/06/wil...used-this.html |

One of the best tracks in the country, wish they would have been able to get F1 there. Looks like you had a good time, what car were you in?

192 mph? probably he blacked out at some point for a second and dreamed about that... maybe he meant to say 192 kph= about 120 mph. if he said he wasnt driving fast, 120 mph is reasonable.

On a side note was a GT3 cup car there that was putting down a 2:12 in light traffic

No doubt a very fast car but even prototypes are only brushing 200 there, and they probably exit T14 about 30mph faster.
Road America is definitely a fun track for a car with good topend, lots of room to stretch the legs. So many cars available with 400+hp that feel cooped up on the more common ~2 mile courses.

I'm planning on buying a summer home in Elkhart Lake when I retire. Wisconsin is beautiful during the summer. I'm thinking about wintering somewhere in between Daytona and Sebring.

BTW, what kind of times was the Atom putting down? I had a ride in one as well and it was amazing. Pretty nervous car given the short wheelbase but an incredible experience. Although might scare the shit out of you at a track like Road America...

I was there last year for Vintage Car Races...
The Fri and Sat evening events at Elkhart Lake is truly amazing.... especially when they line up all the classic cars in town on Sat night. It became one of my all time fav spots in the country and I can't wait to go again!

Nice little clip here has me seeing a 911 turbo cab, the 599, the ariel, a few others and getting the checkered flag at the end.

What a great, historic track! The tree-lined parts of it almost look like the Nordschleife.
It looks very fast--you seemed to be carrying serious speed around corners. Lots of tire squeal--were you running street tires? I love all the signage: Caterpillar, Briggs & Stratton, Sargento cheese, Johnsonville brats. It's so Wisconsin! |
