Again and again
The M keeps wining.
Interesting notes: -M best the AMG in its traditionally best area - comfort. I'd bet the car had EDC. -AMG best the M3 in steering feel. Probably a bit subjective.... -AMG trans sounds really impressive. Blurring the lines not mechanically but functionally between and automated manual and an automatic. -Great and insightful comments about the everyday use of what the M3 really offers. Really questions your ego vs. actual requirements for a car. But the M-DCT should more than level that insight/complaint. |

M3 is the drivers car, the fun car, the car that will try and catch you out AND it doesnt have an auto or 4 doors. Sold. Oh, err, I already bought one.
However, the guy contradicts himself (typical Autocar) so often I wouldnt really take any of it to heart. |

"But things are likely to be quite different when the C63 wagon launches next year."
I think its safe to say no US publication will be echoing this statement. Clearly this guy is putting practicality high on his list for these cars. In the US, it will be a lack of availabtility of a coupe for the AMG (not to mention the IS-F and CTS-V) that hurts its, not a lack of wagon for the M3. Granted he still praises the M3, but I find this closing comment a bit strange. |

I concur, love the way chris wrote of both amazing machines, the competition has caught up but still just some lil details keep BMW ahead, good to know those lil special things are still there.

The only real thing that makes both rivals is their price and performance, apart from that they walk a different path, the C63 is a 4dr saloon with a monster engine, an automatic and no LSD while the M3 is a 2dr coupe with smaller high-revving engine, a LSD and a manual box. They will not appeal to the same customers so no wonder the report was all over the place, one minute very C63 and the next all for the M3.
Until the CLK63 vs M3 M-DCT are tested together will we really get a realistic result. |

M3 are the best !!
IMO I don't like Mercedes AMG because all it has is a bigger engine with lots of hp and tq. It doesn't really match to M3 at all. Only rich wannabe would buy Mercedes because some people think the more expensive the better; thats how society is nowdays.

From an Australian perspective, it will be very interesting to see how the C63 compares to the best of Aussie muscle cars, considering they are similar weight-wise and follow the slower revving big cube philosophy AMG have, whilst being around half the price.
Considering these similarities the C63 will have a lot more competition in Australia than the manual M3 Coupe has. That link above is the first white C63 I have seen, must admit the silver one did nothing for me but in white it looks very nice. |

I don't understand why in these articles they speak very positively about the competition but always in the end the M3 is picked as the winner. Anyway, I don't care because I am simply enjoying my M3.
