this was taken saturday morning before the start of my 33 mile mtn bike ride with about 5k feet of climbing in auburn, ca. i get to take my m3 to lots of great mtn biking spots....so it gets a little dirty sometimes....

the bars are the bmw factory aero bars made specifically to mount in the little mounting holes under the flaps on the roof. doesn't touch the roof at all, and only takes a couple of minutes to take on and off. the bike is in a yakima frontloader. great mount and excellent customer service as well. i don't like taking my wheels off if i don't have to. they make an even beefier version of this style of bike mount but the frontloader is more than sufficient for my xc bike. i also sometimes put the rear seats down and put the bike in the trunk, but only when i'm going a really long way (like tahoe)...

Were you down in Monterey for the "Sea Otter Classic" ?

Here is mine rigged up with 2x mountain bikes. You can see the full suspension bike poses a tough mounting problem, I don't know if I'll do that again.

merked, i rode in auburn instead of going to sea otter this year...tough mounting job you are doing there, not sure i would do that with my m3...i am happy with the roof rack...or putting the bike in the trunk.

sea otter was awesome this year! great weather, and some amazing bikes out there. i saw some of the best looking wood/bamboo frames at this festival. They ride surprisingly well too. So much good tech happening at this years festival..glad to see some others took part, or at least know about it.

nice m6, it must be a beast! i will have to see if i have any pix of the trek, it's just a stock 5.2 in discovery channel colors. i really like the bike, but once the sun comes out i hardly ride it as i'm mostly on dirt. i love my s works carbon stumpy (it's an 07), but the buddy i rode with on the ride this saturday has a 2012 s works carbon stumpy 29'er with everything made of carbon including the wheels...that bike is amazing, but also amazingly expensive!

Nice to see other cyclists on here. My M3 will be carrying a roof rack on occasion as well. I'm a road cyclist myself riding a Specialized Roubaix Comp but am also riding a Gary Fisher Paragon when I get an itch to do some MTN biking as well. Getting ready for a 200 mile road ride - TOSRV in Ohio in early May.
