Test Pipes Installed! No CEL? :D

Hey guys, I just got my Turner Test Pipes installed yesterday and dear LORD I love my car again. My setup is Gintani Race axleback, Turner Test Pipes (primary cat delete) and res delete.

First off, the noise this car makes is incredible. My friends say it sounds like a racecar and I agree! I feel ALOT more power throughout the power band, alot more torquier, quicker and pulls harder than ever. It still isn't as loud as I want it to be but I'm cool with staying at this volume for now lol. It smells like its supposed to smell, like a cat delete. I get a strong stench of it every time I come to a stop but it doesnt bother me.

Anyway, I put about 100 miles on my car with the pipes, and I have no check engine light. Does this mean that I do not need a tune or an 02 sensor to take care of it? Or is it going to come on later in time.

It will come on eventually.

Is there any decrease in performance when the CEL goes on? Is it just a visual nuisance?

Without a tune to shut off the rear O2 while running either no CAT's or even HFC's, it'll be coming on soon. The engine will detect a CEL for Increased Emissions. With a OBD CANBUSII reader you can delete the code but then it'll come back on. I went through that for months till I got a tune.

Good luck!

Just nuisance, no power loss.

Need a tune sooner or later, unless you can live with the light. I got the tune before mine came on but mainly because of the cold start, wife hated the loud sound and I'm sure it woke my neighbors .

If you drive it easy/freeway driving you'll trigger the light faster.

It's a matter of time. It will either happen when you start in the morning or as you're cruising along.

You'll love the tune if you decide to go with us. Have programmed tons of Catless cars with great results.

You'll find some reviews of Catless cars I've programmed at the bottom of that page.

I also don't turn off any sensors so if you put the cats back on you'll pass smog with the tune.

i drove for about 1000 miles with test pipes before i got my tune (due to installing a supercharger) and i think i got the CEL maybe 3 times during that period. The first one took at least a few hundred miles. It takes no more than 15 seconds to clear it with your smartphone and a $20 OBD>bluetooth adapter, so if i hadn't gone supercharged i would probably just have continued doing that.

Kiwi/PLX makes an OBDII interface that will interact with your iPhone/Android device via Bluetooth for ~$75.

Clearing codes is only temporary, you'll need a flash tune (like the ESS E-Flash) in order to get this rectified.
