I don't drive mine to work every day, but every evening, after the little one has gone to bed, and the wife settled in with her cup of coffee and a reality TV show, I make it a point to head out for a cruise, no particular destination in mind, just to unwind from the pressures of the day.

Our vacation home is only a few miles from there !!!! Will be up there this weekend. Going to the BMW show at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum on Sunday morning.

I'm planning on going to The BMW Event at Larz Anderson on Sunday as well... I'm a sucker for an abundance of ///M in one place.

(apologies for the minor thread jack)

Will see you there then, unless it is raining. Weather looks good for Sunday, however. Should arrive right around 9-915. Won't go if it is raining.

LSD

I work on the east side of the loop in chicago and live on the near west side. I could cut across the loop but many times I head south on lake shore drive and hook up with the Dan Ryan back north just to open it up a bit. Lots of on/ off ramps too.

Then some times I'll get a hankering to do it the other way late at nite with no traffic. Heading northbound into the city late at nights with all the buildings lit up in my m3 is absolutely a thrill. I'd put the northbound LSD ride into downtown up there with any vista!

Last time i got home for R&R (work in the PNG Highlands) I went out for a quick wednesday morning blast... arrived home nine hours later.

Driving in the country during the middle of the day mid-week is incredible, no traffic and no police.

I have the good fortune of living a short distance from some spectacular country driving roads. Usually about once a month, I go out in the very early morning and just blast around for a couple of hours.

Anyone else do this sort of thing?
Isn't that the point of having an M3? If it were just an everyday car then I'd get a 328i

Not as much as I'd like! Mine has not even 4000 miles after almost a year No commute, lots of travel out of town, and when going somewhere with the family we drive the 535i.

I used to do that all the time when I had my Mustang (supercharged beast), but for some reason I don't feel the urge with the M3.

Likewise. Definitely some fun drives around, both in the East Bay (around Mount Diablo, and between Livermore and San Jose) and on the peninsula (esp. 1 along the coast) . . .

I do regularly as I now have a DD for my work commute. I thought I'd save on gas but I think I'm breaking even since every time I drive the m for fun I'm straight up assaulting the gas pedal.

That is 100% the reason I own a M3. What else would you do with it? Drive it for.. not fun?

Somewhat confused.
