Of course. It's funny how some guys think market demand matches their personal preferences.

Especially in WA. Finding a nice example with the color and options you want is very difficult. I feel your pain. I can't convince myself to buy a car sight unseen out of state either which makes the market very limited. Good luck on your search.

I agree and have never bought one sight unseen either. This search has been much tougher than I expected. Mostly because I want a 6MT and a moonroof. Also seems half the E92's are black. I may have to give in on the color since the white ones and silver ones are in high demand in SEA it seems.

Could be our "weather". Ha!

Wow---if I did the exchange right that is like $41K USD? If so, you killed it on that deal!

Closer to $42K, which is still a killer deal considering it only has ~20K miles on it. Unless it has a moonroof, then you got ripped off.

So much for the moonroof and manual tranny hurting resale...

Hah Ha.....this was my car so the thread was an interesting read

Not sure who bought it, but whoever did got a spotless car with absolutely no issues. It was damn near new car showroom condition...hence the price. Original MSRP in the ad was misleading because this was a Euro Delivery car with a sticker about 4K lower than US pricing. Yep, the car was from Alaska but it never saw snow...it was a summer-only car that was garage kept all winter. Shipped it south because there's a limited market for M3's here....especially in the winter and I had no time to market it myself. Regrets? Of course, but I got my eyes on the new M2 and another ED in the future.

Congrats to the new owner!

The moonroof on this car was the only killer. There will always be a market for "garage queens" and truly "mint" cars. You get what you pay for.

LCI, Comp package, manual tranny, driven 8k miles per year? This car was bound to go quickly. Finding ZCP 6MTs is a chore.

FWIW - I bought 14 months ago. Same year and color combo, more options (MSRP was $74k with DCT), and more miles (33k at the time). Paid $46,800.

Carbon fibre roof. Full warranty and maintainence plan too (but I work in a shop, so maintainence is no big deal).

I talked them down from 60k.

Only downside is I traded in my C63 for it (it was at a mercedes dealer for some reason) and I took a bit of a hit on that, but they did take a ton off the M3.

I swear......

.....next to the 6MT/DCT question, the moonroof/CF roof argument has got to be the next best way to get people lined up on one side against the other. Not everyone thinks they're not getting a "real M3" unless they get a CF roof. Getting some light into a car with an all black interior was great. So was getting some ventilation when the moonroof was tilted open. That said, driving at open-road speed with the moonroof open all the way was a disappointment in this car. It was so loud and windy that I eventually just quit doing it.

OP here. I get to meet the original owner so that is cool. The uncool part is I didn't get the car. BTW---what was the add near the battery. The sales guy was not certain. Trickle charge system?

Super clean ride. The nicest I have come across in the NW.

Good for you it sold. Bad for me we couldn't get the trade part worked out. Kind of insulting they offered me $8K for my E46 (not your fault of course). Boo hoo.

broken record here but for me I like the extra light in the interior. Also the 6MT is such a plus that's why I found the car so desirable. No snoozing next time.

Hi Supernova.......

Good luck with your search. Sorry you missed this one....you would have been happy. I guess I should have been paying attention to what was going on here on the forum much earlier. Now I'm responding very late.

Yes, what you were looking at was a dealer-installed internal trickle charger. I'm surprised the salesman couldn't answer this for you...I went over this with them when they asked me what it was.

If you find your car and want a set of flawless 219 18" rims in gunmetal to go with it, let me know. They're in the area and I obviously won't be needing them anymore.

Ciao......

Whats the story on CF roof? I feel moonroof is more appealing specially if it is not vert

Story? Lots of guys like the appearance of CF on their cars, so there's that. I think it looks particularly good on light-colored cars, white esp. Beyond that there is a weight savings, and that weight is at the very top of the car so it has more effect (on handling) than shaving weight off the bottom. If you don't intend to seriously track the car it is not a big deal on the weight savings. If you enjoy an open roof and don't have any big fascination with carbon fiber parts, I would just get a moonroof car and be happy.

I know---it's not perfect shape but I consider it "good" condition. It's loaded with 92K miles. Love the car. I see on carsforsale.com the average for an 04 M3 is about $16K. So I was thinking $14K would be fair for private party.

This was a trade however which I've never done. so why did I ask??:

Thanks---must admit I was a bit off on my pricing so maybe was caught off guard a bit on the starting price. But now having read through the "what did you pay for your E9X M3" thread here I get it. $44-$45K is very common for a higher mileage car than yours. Cheer.
