E93 M3 repaired after accident...

Had an accident...took damage to the drivers side of the car...
IF there was no damage to the frame AND if the body shop REMOVE AND REPLACES every part that took damage, will the car be 100% after repairs are made?

If it's just damage to the panels, it should be no big deal. As long as they paint and install the new parts properly, you'll have no issues. The only time I've had issues is when the frame is bent. The repaired car drove just fine. The only time you'd notice something was a bit off was when stopping with hands off the steering wheel (and how often do you do that anyway?). The car would no longer stop in a straight line. It veered slightly to one side. Again, not a big deal at all and most would never notice it anyway.

Yea you are right... everyone is saying that "it will never drive the same". LOL
After talking with the body shop, they said if its broke or damaged, they are replacing it 100%...they will do it right the first time...No matter the cost. After all is done, the drivers side will be completely new and the passenger side, 2 yrs old.

That looks like a hard hit. Make sure you get a good look at the "frame" when they have it apart. Any suspension mounting points bent/damaged and I'd push hard for a total.

looks fine; there is no frame; the car is a unibody. That is not a bad area to hit (other than all the cosmetics and the whole right side and hood should be refinsihed) but the only possibility of structural damage I see could be to the A or hinge pillar where the door bolts to. At least you're ok, the car should be fine. They should also guarantee their work while you own the car. Keep in mind, repairing a car is a body shops business card. A good shop will do it right!

Since this is a convertible, any issues will be magnified or exposed because of the convertible top. It will be very apparent if there is more than cosmetic issues with the damage if there is any new wind noises, any top up/down issues(shuttering, not locking right, alignment issues, leaks ect.), it will become very apparent. If you would like to get a different front bumper (thats if it is going to replaced based on the accident), I would talk to the body shop so you can have them not order the OEM bumper and order the aftermarket version you would like + any additional cost.

If the frame rails weren't bent should be okay..otherwise RUN>>>

Cars never drive/operate 100% the same after a major accident..

I cannot stress this enough...MAKE SURE they put your car on a structural bench to check the frame and alignment. IF they do that and correct all the areas that are off, the car will drive like new again. Same shit happened to my wifes car. it came out perfect and drove just as good as new. If the shop is just going to slap on new panels and welds here and there without first putting it on the BMW structural bench, then forget it. it wont be the same. There are specs that they have to correct while its on the bench.

heres what it looks like.

why scare the guy, or even say that? You can clearly see the front bumper isn't touched so the lower frame rails are fine. the upper rail over the exposed fender is not "really" structural and folds easily.

Side impact can also shift the rails..not trying to "scare" him just being real. that looks like a hell of an impact

That's massive.

Personally I would not want the car back, particularly because the rear quarter looks like it needs to be replaced. That's a serious amount of work. It all comes down to the damage underneath though.

Make sure they jig the car as others have said. I doubt the frame is tweaked but definitely make sure..

Sorry that happened ;(

OP don't listen to some of these people as they are most likely not experienced w/ coll repairs. Most of the damages appear cosmetic, yes it sucks it's over the entire side of the car and yes I would replace that left rear 1/4 but a competent shop will make it 100%. The jig should be a Celette bench but there are other ways to measure a BMW. Also a 1/4 is easier to do on a vert.

As Team Plutonium said a good repair shop can get you back to 100 % The only thing that sucks is that it shows up on a car fax....or wait I see you're from Italy . Is there Car Fax there. Seriously. Just wondering

I'd say that only a small fraction of accidents actually show up on CarFax.

I put $32K damage into my car and the dealership fixed it perfectly. Admittedly, most of the damage was parts and only minor body issues. They replaced all of the suspension and the differential. The parts bill was $22k. Interestingly, my car was a lease and I decided that I would not buy it because I could not justify owning a car with such a big accident. However, the Carfax never showed the damage. This was done at a dealer shop and I was very surprised that the Carfax was completely normal. Your car certainly looks like it had some serious damage, but I would wait until I drove it and really checked the repair to decide whether or not it is the same again or not.
